    FTA

The Tea Party movement, more than anything else, is a rather garish display of a Republican right that seems to have lost not only the national elections but also any semblance of political bearings. Staying on this course, the GOP risks -- in the words of one pundit -- becoming "the Talk Radio Republican Party."

Better put that kettle on, Marge. It's going to be a long and bizarre four years.

Hey what can one say. The party with no clue has boiled itself dry. LOL

But, but, but.......these are NOT Republican protests, CBGP.

Its a 'grassroots' movement of disenfranchised Americans in general.

Despite the fact that most Americans still support the president and his policies.

This IS going to be a long and bizzare four years if the only Republican strategy is grandstanding opposition on the basis of ideology only.

But then again, that will surely be the demise of what is left of the splintered GOP as we know it.

wait. you can still support the president but not support his spending policy/priorities?

        right?

or has everything drifted to the lefty version of 'if you're not with us you're against us?"

you can hope for a collapse of the opposition, but unless you do something positive, its not gonna happen.

i suppose that constitutes 'hope' though.

--The problem with your rant is that cons didn't revolt back on Election Day (when you were voting for More*of*the*Same McCain). Nor did cons revolt back in September when Bush bought AIG, did they, beavsy? Did cons revolt in 2004--after you knew Bush was on a wild spending and borrowing frenzy? Exactly...Your credibility is ZERO. ZILCH. No one believes you lying cons, beavsy. Cry all you want but you can't change the fact that when the GOP was spending your money like crazy, you said SQUAT. ;-(

Excellent point and one that can't be hammered home enough!

Right now the GOP has become the party that acts like a spoiled child throwing a temper tantrum. What they haven't figured out yet is that THEY LOST! The MAJORITY of Americans voted AGAINST them! The problem is that they still think we should listen to them. Why should or would anyone listen to a group that only panders to the wished of the rich?!

              No, they don't want that.

              They Demand that.

A Subtle difference but an important one

Somehow, DarkWizard, being a supporter of a Political Party has become more important to many than being an American.

During the Bush years they would have detained folks in cages somewhere over the "Tea Parties"

A "Red Level 7 Terrorist Threat"? ...and it's so BAD no one can take pictures?? Of them arresting Peacefully Protesting Citizens in New York???

I am not aware of anything like that happening at a Tea Party.

Some kind of sick showmanship...like Thugs are gonna come get them for speaking their mind...whatever...

              America has more pressing business.

            Just reporting the facts, beav.

In the Short Attention Span Theatre that is the American populace, it comes as no surprise that people are no longer satisfied with the decisions they made 5 months ago.

I mean, in a world chock full of economic crisis experts, how could we have chosen a President that is taking real ACTION and making a concerted effort to avoid a complete and utter collapse of our economic structure?

Is it about the Bank bailouts?

Probably so. Most investors are small time with little at stake. Let em fail.

Is is about the stimulus package?

Probably so. Most people dont realize the paradox of thrift could very easily freeze the wheels of economic activity leading to mass unemployment far beyond the 10-15% predicted by year's end.

Nope, I dont think so, its all about politicization of virtually EVERYTHING imaginable.

The very survival of this country's status as the global leader in innovation rests in the hands of people more interested in ideological victories than in actual, measurable success.

Where was the outrage when we initiated Nation Building Campaigns and sent pallets of cash - unsupervised and unregulated - to Iraq?

            Crocodile concerns, this tea party.

I hope it makes everyone feel better so they can do something productive.

....Most people dont realize the paradox of thrift could very easily freeze the wheels of economic activity leading to mass unemployment far beyond the 10-15% predicted by year's end....

i realize that stark reality. and the track we are on now will do NOTHING to avert that outcome. clearly, you do to. so why this slavish tip o the hat to the new-reality lib hate speak? let the tea people do their thing without snide commentary - like most libs here.

frankly, i think they feel threatened. that the consensus put together to elect Obama may be coming apart. but that's just me.

...Nope, I dont think so, its all about politicization of virtually EVERYTHING imaginable...

as your discussion defending smackdown of people that disagree with you? by thatmeasure, you'd be part of the problem too.

...The very survival of this country's status as the global leader in innovation rests in the hands of people more interested in ideological victories than in actual, measurable success...

fortunately, innovation can only be throttled or encouraged by the politicians. i'm concerned that the curretn policies intended or unintended throttle that innovation.

...Where was the outrage when we initiated Nation Building Campaigns and sent pallets of cash - unsupervised and unregulated - to Iraq?...

pocket change compared to what's being spent now on fixing things that shouldn't/can't be fixed until the real problems with the banks are addressed. but... by all means... let's posture politically.

                  sheesh.

Its the attempt at putting it as a grass roots movement. We've seen that with Endo and company posting about the "growing numbers" who are dissatisfied despite approval ratings for Obama of over 60%. The right wing has lost it and instead of changing continue to cling to a failed ideology.

Stupid ranting by liberals that can't stand anybody thinking the the great Obama might have things wrong.

                    1. Obama wants to spend more that all former presidents combined. His proposed deficits make Bush look like a miser.

                    2. Obama wants to put a carbon tax that will raise the cost of all energy. That will mean in the north that many people will have to choose whether to starve or freeze. That was a problem in the 70's gas crunch.

                    3. Obama raised the tax on cigarettes and over half of the smokers are poor.

You cowboygrandpa ranted long and loud about the Bush deficits. Why are you silent about this monstrous deficits to come forever? Why are you silent on the big tax increases on EVERYONE? What kind of person is it that blasts the opposition party for something and when his own party does worse says nothing or applauds it? Could that be a HYPOCRITE?

You are not super bright or intelligent if you believe that 3 months into a presidency one can make all the changes one has to.

You all seem to have forgotten that we have a wonderful history:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

A grievance in this case is the disapproval of something our bureaucrats are doing to our livelihoods - taxing us into ECONOMIC PARITY. Which means the lowest common denominator.
