The differing views of the "rule of law" in Spain and the U.S »
Posted By tehranchik 8 months, 3 weeks ago in NewsScott Horton reports this morning that, in Spain, "prosecutors have decided to press forward with a criminal investigation targeting former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and five top associates [John Yoo, Jay Bybee, David Addington, Doug Feith and William Haynes] over their role in the torture of five Spanish citizens held at Guantánamo." Rule of law. Plain and simple. We are obligated by international treaties to prosecute crimes of torture. The nazi excuse of, "I was just following orders", doesn't work. I'm sure the nazis justified torture for the good of the state and their lawyers told them it was okay.
Democrats Rockefeller and Feinstein should hang their heads in shame for wanting to promote the chief of torture implementation to the job of Director of the CIA. The CIA needs cleaning with a precis and deliberate manner. The leaders have to go. To prison preferably. -
