Comments for The Public is Sick of Govts Wasteful Spending »
Posted By FairNBalanced 8 months ago in NewsUnlike in the 1958 cult movie "The Blob," which featured a creature from outer space that consumed everything to which it attached itself, government is a homegrown monster, consuming ever-increasing amounts of capital. And this government blob doesn't discriminate. It grows no matter which party is in charge. While the deficit last week raced past $1 trillion, the federal government and many state governments are trying to pry more of our money from us so they can finish creating a dependency culture from which we'll never escape.

Where were you, you worthless coward hypocrite, when Bush was spending a trillion to murder innocent Iraqis for the benifit of big oil and Haliburton and Israel?

Oh look, it's the same collection of faux noise loyalist cons having a little tea party organized and finainced by the billionaires and war profiteers who want to keep 100% of the money gained by 8 years of unregulated warmongering and casino capatilist repug greed.

Did all you whankers vote for Caribu Barbie to fix the economy, the pile of crap left after the repugs controlled all, including the justice departement you filled with brown shirt loyalists? -

--You're at least 8 years too late for your outrage to be compelling or credible. You screwed yourselves when you lied Bush and Cheney into office twice and didn't raise a peep when they spent out of control. Get serious.
"Time for a Tea Party!!!! This spending is got to stop."
--Sure. That's a really strong and nuanced argument. Of freaking course we need to stop out of control spending--eventually. Stopping on a dime and spending no money at all now is not the recommendation of any reputable economist. No reputable economists agrees with you cons.-

Really?
President Obama says that "economists from across the political spectrum agree" on the need for massive government spending to stimulate the economy. In fact, many economists disagree. Hundreds of them, including Nobel laureates and other prominent scholars, have signed a statement that the Cato Institute has placed in major newspapers across the United States.

Shocking!
Defense isn't a constitutional mandate for the Federal govt - amazing!
Of course you are looking forward to the subsidies from the Obama administration to create "green jobs" aren't you?
Maybe you need to read about the study from Spain - they have been subsidizing "green jobs" and the results are interesting
Bloomberg.com has info on the study
Job Losses From Obama Green Stimulus Foreseen in Spanish Study
Subsidizing renewable energy in the U.S. may destroy two jobs for every one created if Spain’s experience with windmills and solar farms is any guide.
For every new position that depends on energy price supports, at least 2.2 jobs in other industries will disappear, according to a study from King Juan Carlos University in Madrid.
The premiums paid for solar, biomass, wave and wind power - - which are charged to consumers in their bills -- translated into a $774,000 cost for each Spanish “green job” created since 2000, said Gabriel Calzada, an economics professor at the university and author of the report.
“The loss of jobs could be greater if you account for the amount of lost industry that moves out of the country due to higher energy prices,” he said in an interview.
So let's transfer all defense industry money into subsidies for green jobs and see how many other jobs we can destroy
Sounds like a plan you would support-

--Stop being simplistic for once. You people GAVE jobs to Bush and Cheney's cronies. They didn't EARN those jobs by bidding for them. Nor did Monica Goodling and her pals from Pat Robertson's crappy law school. You cons LOVE to claim you work so hard but you forget that people with brains are watching your every move. We see when you give special favors to your friends and hire poorly qualified people at $100k Justice Department jobs, nostalgia. You're not living in reality if you think that it is.

--Don't do this...Cons do the cherry picking thing-- find the one or two obscure studies that support what you already believe--and then claim that this alone is compelling evidence that we should or shouldn't do this or that thing. I'm not going there with you.-

As for the study on green jobs from Spain it is very relevant
They used govt subsidies to create "green jobs"
Can you name another country that has done that?
Don't tell me that we have nothing to learn from a European country!

((The Public is sick FROM the irresponsible wasteful spending of the Bush administration that has put us in this untenable position to begin with! ))

I agree that the public is sick of the irresponsible wasteful spending of the Bush Administration.
What I can't understand is how the "public" who is sick of Bush's wasteful spending believes that the answer to it is even MORE and UNPRECEDENTED wasteful federal spending as an antidote.
It defies common sense.
It is also quite alarming to see the invective and ridicule heaped upon anyone who dares to question the crazy spending and especially at the tea party participants and events themselves.
This along with siccing the DHS on right-wing "extremists" and warning about how likely they are to become violent, even though, by its own report, there's no evidence of any violence being planned.
The intolerance of the left is appalling and, for the most part, they still believe that they are the most open-minded people around.-

And meanwhile, Obama is seizing even MORE executive priviledge than Bush and arguing even more forcibly and creatively to expand the powers of the FISA and the Patriot Act -- even to the extent of arguing that anyone who feels they have been spied upon unjustly should not have any standing to even sue the government at all.

I'm sort of a liberal but I agree with most of your two comments, What I fear is that we have reached the point where it really doesn't matter if it is a conservative or liberal type of government that gets elected , government does waste alot of money but the shear size of government is what is killing the taxpayer. Your country is like mine up here there are at least three levels of government and they continue to grow every year and they continue to increase the amount of money they need to operate each year.

Some of the things that cause me much grief are when I see cities building sports facilities that are used by private interests to make money, like in Vancouver where the city is going to be left with a big bill because they are going to pay for the housing needed for the olympics . I don't feel that it is politics that is hurting us as much as just government and it is a result of creeping socialism that we have accepted under both liberal and conservative rule. -

It is apparent to anyone with common sense that the economy NEEDS to be stimulated at this point, thus REQUIRING an influx from the strongest economic source at our disposal - the GOVERNMENT.
Reply
Furthermore, as to siccing the DHS on right-wingers, if they were NOT so vociferously heaping "invective" and "ridicule" upon the President and his administration, AND inciting violence among their ranks, they would NOT have become a concern to the DHS or anyone else. They have only themselves to blame for being targeted, since THEY chose to paint a great big bullseye on themselves with all their rankerous BS and lunatic ravings!

--The reason you lack credibility is because you've decided in advance that *anything* Obama spends money on is "wasteful." We SAW examples of Bush's wasteful spending as it was happening and cons raised nary a peep. Your argument is ridiculous and simplistic because NO REPUTABLE ECONOMISTS are saying stop any and all spending right this moment. NO ONE is saying that except cons and you have no basis for arguing that that's going to help us get out of this recession--because you know it won't.

"Public sick of Wasteful Gvt Spending, Claim they were wasting just fine W/O Gvt Help."
Why the sudden concern with wasteful spending?
What with disposable durable goods and automobiles from China and Korea, we Americans LOVE to waste money on worthless crap.
We dont save ANYTHING!
And the government is the cause of our problems?
Yes, this has got to be the stupidest, most undereducated population on the planet - or maybe just the most arrogant.
Likely both.
But as long as we can blame a 3 month old administration - we dont need no reality. -

Just read the posts here from the lefties who self-describe themselves as intelligent, tolerant, thoughtful, patriotric, supportive of "our" President. The posts are vulger, derisive, dismissive, attacking, insulting, devoid of any defense of Obama actions other than Bush did the same, disrespectful of "our: previous President.
