Blogging is very popular in Iran. So popular that the Mullahs feel out of control. To keep bloggers on a leash, "offensive" bloggers, e.g. those that don't see eye to eye with the regime, can face death penalty for their "crime".

Authoritarian religions are a product of authoritarian people, and vice versa. Religion, in any of its various forms, exists at the nexus of personality and culture that define a given people, and since religion itself originates in Man's fear of death, it is little surprise that much of its practice, in many -- though NOT all -- of those various forms, is built on a foundation of fear. Hence, authoritarianism; hence the enslavement of the mind under the religious "overseer's" whip. Although hardly a phenomenon limited to Islam or the Abrahamic religions generally, the Islamic strain of authoritarianism receives particular attention for its overt reliance on the medieval, draconian punitiveness it employs to sustain itself. It's the anachronistic nature of it all that garners them the negative press. Other authoritarian religions have learned to wield their whip of fear with a gentler hand, while their mystic offshoots have abandoned the whip altogether, Islam's offshoots included. I'd wager there's not much support within Sufism for executing bloggers. But of course, the mystic offshoots from authoritarian religions spring from the eternal yearning to ESCAPE the enslavement of fear, so that's a whole different thing.....

It is important to remember that it is possible to be anti Israel without hating Jews. The creation of Israel was a huge mistake. Now it has become a case of the bullied becoming the bullies.

      Promised land, my ass.

Well said, Anti-Zionism is not anti-Jews. This European Jews have no right to be in Palestine. Creation of Israel is not only mistake but it is a shame. The European Zionist deserve nothing but rejection of their claim for the right to return. Return where and why?

"You believe in the right to return of Jews to a country they've never been to"
      -Norman Finkelstein

"We Jews; we are the destroyers & will remain the destroyers. Nothing you can do will meet our demands & needs.
We will forever destroy because we want a world of our own."
-- (You Gentiles, by Jewish Author Maurice Samuels, p. 155

Isn't this part of the Sharia Law that many in the Islamic community feels we should adopt here in the USA?

BB64, when Sharia Law is adopted will cutting off heads become the norm, too? If it does there are a lot of liberal progressives who stand to loose their heads.

Anti-Zionism does not mean Anti-Jewish. Isreal was "created" by a group of Brits and Americans who felt the need to comfort the Jewish population of Europe. So the Brits, who were the Imperial controllers of Palestine, and the Americans took the land of Palestine, drew lines on a map, creating the physical boundries of Isreal.

I am not a Torah buff, but I do believe that the Torah is against a physical state of Isreal. Isreal is the people not the Country.

You can be Anti-Zionist and not Anti-Jewish. How else do you explain all of the Orthodox Jews who preach against the Country of Isreal?
