Comments for Iran: death penalty for offensive bloggers »

Posted By israeligirl1 8 months ago in News

Blogging is very popular in Iran. So popular that the Mullahs feel out of control. To keep bloggers on a leash, "offensive" bloggers, e.g. those that don't see eye to eye with the regime, can face death penalty for their "crime".

It is important to remember that it is possible to be anti Israel without hating Jews. The creation of Israel was a huge mistake. Now it has become a case of the bullied becoming the bullies.

Just let Hamas bomb Israel with no retaliation. That sounds like a good idea dumb chuck.

Anyway, it's about time Obama opens his eyes to reality. Iran can't be dealt with from talking. THey need to be dealt with forcefully and now is the time to grow some balls and tell them to stop.

I don't remember saying anything about bombing Israel.

Let's not forget that Israel has the bomb, so who is the real threat in the middle east?

Chuckie, it might be possible but I don't believe it and I do believe you are anti-semitic. Of course, it's possible to be anti Israel without being anti- semitic but the odds are way too long to bet on it. My advice stop hating, Chuckie.

Yo there Wolfie you degenerate dog humper.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I am in no way anti-Semitic and life is way too short to hate anyone. (Although at the moment, I would have no problem lining all the Taliban up against the wall and sending them all to Allah.)

I’m equally contemptuous of all religious types.

What do you mean "nut cases"? It's the religion of peace. Besides, we must learn to mutually acknowledge and respect the norms of other cultures. Our leader needs to humbly bow to the Iranian leaders and offer them concessions.

Authoritarian religions are a product of authoritarian people, and vice versa. Religion, in any of its various forms, exists at the nexus of personality and culture that define a given people, and since religion itself originates in Man's fear of death, it is little surprise that much of its practice, in many -- though NOT all -- of those various forms, is built on a foundation of fear. Hence, authoritarianism; hence the enslavement of the mind under the religious "overseer's" whip. Although hardly a phenomenon limited to Islam or the Abrahamic religions generally, the Islamic strain of authoritarianism receives particular attention for its overt reliance on the medieval, draconian punitiveness it employs to sustain itself. It's the anachronistic nature of it all that garners them the negative press. Other authoritarian religions have learned to wield their whip of fear with a gentler hand, while their mystic offshoots have abandoned the whip altogether, Islam's offshoots included. I'd wager there's not much support within Sufism for executing bloggers. But of course, the mystic offshoots from authoritarian religions spring from the eternal yearning to ESCAPE the enslavement of fear, so that's a whole different thing.....

Well said, Anti-Zionism is not anti-Jews. This European Jews have no right to be in Palestine. Creation of Israel is not only mistake but it is a shame. The European Zionist deserve nothing but rejection of their claim for the right to return. Return where and why?

"You believe in the right to return of Jews to a country they've never been to"
              -Norman Finkelstein

"We Jews; we are the destroyers & will remain the destroyers. Nothing you can do will meet our demands & needs.
We will forever destroy because we want a world of our own."

"It is important to remember that it is possible to be anti Israel without hating Jews. " MY ASS.

                "Anti-Zionism = Anti-Semitism"
                - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
". . . You declare, my friend, that you do not hate the Jews, you are merely 'anti-Zionist.' And I say, let the truth ring forth from the high mountain tops, let it echo through the valleys of God's green earth: When people criticize Zionism, they mean Jews--this is God's own truth.

"Antisemitism, the hatred of the Jewish people, has been and remains a blot on the soul of mankind. In this we are in full agreement. So know also this: anti-Zionist is inherently antisemitic, and ever will be so.

"Why is this? You know that Zionism is nothing less than the dream and ideal of the Jewish people returning to live in their own land. The Jewish people, the Scriptures tell us, once enjoyed a flourishing Commonwealth in the Holy Land. From this they were expelled by the Roman tyrant, the same Romans who cruelly murdered Our Lord. Driven from their homeland, their nation in ashes, forced to wander the globe, the Jewish people time and again suffered the lash of whichever tyrant happened to rule over them.

"The Negro people, my friend, know what it is to suffer the torment of tyranny under rulers not of our choosing. Our brothers in Africa have begged, pleaded, requested--DEMANDED the recognition and realization of our inborn right to live in peace under our own sovereignty in our own country.

"How easy it should be, for anyone who holds dear this inalienable right of all mankind, to understand and support the right of the Jewish People to live in their ancient Land of Israel. All men of good will exult in the fulfilment of God's promise, that his People should return in joy to rebuild their plundered land.

This is Zionism, nothing more, nothing less.

                  Is anti-Zionism hate?
Yes. It is more dangerous than anti-Semitism, threatening lives and peace in the Middle East.
First, anti-Zionism targets the most vulnerable part of the Jewish people, namely, the Jewish population of Israel, whose physical safety and personal dignity depend crucially on maintaining Israel's sovereignty. Put bluntly, the anti-Zionist plan to do away with Israel condemns 5 1/2 million human beings, mostly refugees or children of refugees, to eternal defenselessness in a region where genocidal designs are not uncommon.

Secondly, modern society has developed antibodies against anti-Semitism but not against anti-Zionism. Today, anti-Semitic stereotypes evoke revulsion in most people of conscience, while anti-Zionist rhetoric has become a mark of academic sophistication and social acceptance in certain extreme yet vocal circles of U.S. academia and media elite. Anti-Zionism disguises itself in the cloak of political debate, exempt from sensitivities and rules of civility that govern inter-religious discourse, to attack the most cherished symbol of Jewish identity.

Finally, anti-Zionist rhetoric is a stab in the back to the Israeli peace camp, which overwhelmingly stands for a two-state solution. It also gives credence to enemies of coexistence who claim that the eventual elimination of Israel is the hidden agenda of every Palestinian.

It is anti-Zionism, then, not anti-Semitism that poses a more dangerous threat to lives, historical justice and the prospects of peace in the Middle East.

Despite piqued disclaimers, some of Israel's critics use anti-semitic stereotypes. In fact, their disclaimers frequently offer a mask of respectability to otherwise socially unacceptable anti-semitism. Many equate Israel to Nazism, claiming that "yesterday's victims are today's perpetrators": last year, Louis de Bernières wrote in the Independent that "Israel has been adopting tactics which are reminiscent of the Nazis". This equation between victims and murderers denies the Holocaust. Worse still, it provides its retroactive justification: if Jews turned out to be so evil, perhaps they deserved what they got. Others speak of Zionist conspiracies to dominate the media, manipulate American foreign policy, rule the world and oppress the Arabs. By describing Israel as the root of all evil, they provide the linguistic mandate and the moral justification to destroy it. And by using anti-semitic instruments to achieve this goal, they give away their true anti-semitic face.

BB64, when Sharia Law is adopted will cutting off heads become the norm, too? If it does there are a lot of liberal progressives who stand to loose their heads.

Similarly, if the USA becomes a "Christian nation" as some believe that it should be, will we go back to the stonings, burnings and other primitive forms of execution mandated in the Old Testament for such crimes as adultery?

Anti-Zionism does not mean Anti-Jewish. Isreal was "created" by a group of Brits and Americans who felt the need to comfort the Jewish population of Europe. So the Brits, who were the Imperial controllers of Palestine, and the Americans took the land of Palestine, drew lines on a map, creating the physical boundries of Isreal.

I am not a Torah buff, but I do believe that the Torah is against a physical state of Isreal. Isreal is the people not the Country.

You can be Anti-Zionist and not Anti-Jewish. How else do you explain all of the Orthodox Jews who preach against the Country of Isreal?
