Well Obama signed the book deal shortly before being sworn in as Senator, and another book deal days before being sworn in as President. So he dodgerd those rules. With the tax scams our elected and appointed officials are pulling we better take a look. Otherwise it seems Geithner, Rangel, Daschele, et al would never pay up. I tke it your response means that Obama's tax return should not be public information? Is that transparent?

he dodged what rules?

if anything, it was his publisher who wanted to hurry up and get this deal signed.
no rules were broken whatsoever.
the book deal Obama signed just days before he became president was for a children's version of one of his books already in print.
and he'll get another HUGE book deal after his eight years in office as well that one's gonna be worth MILLIONS!!!!!!! -

No, it absolutely should be transparent. My point is that he didn't break any rules or violate any laws.

It always amuses me when Conservatives who talk about people being "self-made" and "doing for themselves" hammer away at a Liberal who has done just that.
Not that President Obama is a liberal.-

I think it is noteworthy that a self-made black man can be elected President. Just as Clinton rose from humble beginnings in Arkansa to become President. I don't like the current crop of political dynasties that include Pelosi, Dodd, Kennedy, and Gore, as well as Bush, or the uber rich like Kerry.

Obama's parents both had PhDs. His maternal grandmother, who raised him, was a bank VP. These are hardly humbe beginnings and are considerable advantages to starting out in life. Many would think that Obama started out with a considerable advantages. Obama is now making millions. Guess its OK for him, but not for others who are consistently tarred as being the undeserving filthy rich.
What confuses me is that Obama criticizes as a failed system the very social and economic structure that enabled both he and Clinton to rise. He is "self-made", sort of, but is instilling a sense of entitlement in the population. Otherwise what is his patented "change" about?
