When looking at past relations between CO2 and temperature its been seen that CO2 follows temperature rise. This is because there is increases plant activity as well as a lot of melting ice which release tons of CO2. The tricky thing about now is that we're releasing enough CO2 so that it looks like temperature is following the CO2. But its hard to tell whether the temperature would have been rising anyway, or if its because of all the unnatural CO2.
