So we had a tea party. Now what? »
Posted By Shana4Liberty 9 months, 4 weeks ago in NewsThere’s an old saying about not biting the hand that feeds you. More people are beginning to discover, however, that our federal government and financial system together are not a hand that feeds us, but rather a hand with a knife that extracts increasingly painful pounds of flesh.
It’s time to withdraw consent for government by Wall Street, and the ill-fated bailouts that smother us under an increasing mountain of unpayable debt. True economic security comes from prosperous, self-sufficient communities that trade with one another from a position of strength, and surplus.

I guess Americans have to face the fact that FOX is orgainzing political resistance against President Obama.
Of course, we all knew this day would come when Rupert Murdoch put Republican PR master, Roger Ailes, in charge of FOX.
I guess Americans need to be aware that we now have an internal threat to our political system that we all grew up with.
We know this is a politically driven threat because FOX never said a word when the Republicans plunged our nation trillions of dollars into debt due to their massive deficit spending.
We should all conclude from this that FOX ENDORSES Deficits ... as long as Republicans produce them.
Centrist Americans who gave Bush a chance - even in the face of unprecedented DIS-approvals ... are faced with this new, aggressive movement that REFUSES to give Obama a chance - even though Obama has many multiples more positives than Bush.
FOX never raised a peep when Bush instituted Torture - something we regularly ridiculed OTHER nations for doing.
FOX never raised a peep when Bush took the Iraq War costs OFF the budget ... so as to hide how much crazy spending was going on.
FOX DEFENDED the Bush administration for outing an undercover CIA agent in retribution for her husband questioning his 'rush to arbitrary war'.
It's quite clear that FOX is intent on building on the Secessionist Inclination of Modern Republicans.
Quite simply, they cannot stand Democracy any longer. Even Republican Governors are beginning to call for Secession - as it was reported today that Gov. Perry of Texas is supporting this idea.
And as we all know, Governor Palin's husband was an avowed secessionist in Alaska.
The Modern Republican is simply dis-inclined to support a freely elected president (if they don't like him/her) ... and it really angers them that they are asked to support the will of the people ... because those people live on the coasts and the upper midwest.

I was going to respond to this, but Goppy already said what I was thinking. I realize this will probably bring out the hardcore Fox followers, but its true that they are promoting a secessionist movement in America. I just hope that when it all comes to a head and we're facing our second civil war, that I don't end up stuck behind enemy lines. Living in the heart of the Bible Belt south, it is a concern. Even though our state went for Obama, the radical right is a strong and loud voice where I live. They've never fully acknowledged the loss of the FIRST civil war, so many are all too ready to help the south rise again. And now that we have the Fox news machine behind it, it might actually get legs and start running. If that happens, all these so-called "proud Americans" will show their true colors and those colors WON'T be red, white, and blue....they'll be pure red and full of hate.

yes, Bush spent alot of money in 8 years time, so does that make it OK that Obama has spent more then bush did, and Obama hasn't even been in office for 100 days yet!? Obama's spending will out do Bush 10 to 1 in his 4 year term, at the rate he's spending. But since it's Obama spending all that money, then that's just fine with you isn't? Two wrongs don't make a right, now does it. Your a hypocrite.

Ah Goppy. Great!!! While I disagree with you on this it is refreshing to do so with a reasond argument. Your problem is that of most super liberals. The blindness to any other idea than liberal thought. That somehow it is un American and evil. You are rehashing a lot of ideas that conservatives are just being led by FOX. If that is the case then liberals must be being led by the MSM that is very liberal. Especially MSNBC.

I like the idea that "FOX ENDORSES Deficits ... as long as Republicans produce them." when it was liberals that ranted long and hard IMHO correctly about the Bush deficits. Lo and behold what happens when the Obamasiah wants $2 trillion plus deficit this year and $1 trillion deficit forever. What do liberals do? Roll over and play dead on the topic. Then rant about the tea parties part of which is protesting the massive deficits. In other words endorsing these deficits Obama wants. Obama is wanting to spend more than ALL presidents combined including Bush. The reverse of what you complained about FOX. You are the pot calling the kettle black. In fact the difference in deficits between Bush and OBama is mind staggering. Bush comes out a miser. Where is the opposition to this Goppy? Come on and give a reasoned approach about that topic. Why is the Republican spending bad and the Democrat enormous spending good? -

Although I saw many quotable lines in this article, this one stood out;

"If the IMF’s staff could speak freely about the U.S., it would tell us what it tells all countries in this situation: recovery will fail unless we break the financial oligarchy that is blocking essential reform. And if we are to prevent a true depression, we’re running out of time."
Creating monetary systems within communities to reflect the real wealth of these communities is not an absurd idea, but what does it really accomplish in the long run? My point is that the quote I chose gets to the crux of the matter and everything else is just putting a bandaid on a broken bone. The root cause must be dealt with to alleviate the symptoms. Right now we are feeding the root cause and perpetuating the symptoms. Therefore, the hypothesis of, "...[if] we are to prevent a true depression, we’re running out of time," should be considered an ominous portent of things to come.-

Interestingly enough Goppy had no problem with CNN and others calling Americans that gathered because they think this current administration is not only following Bush's lead but doing so at a much higher rate and these people don't want to saddle their children and there children's children with even more debt than the Republicans did.
Now for those that will likely say but YOU were silent when Bush,,, Rhetoric from their DNC play book,,,,,, the conservatives did not show up to support the Republicans two years ago, which made it easier for the Dems to win, to prove that point. So your stance that we didn't care that the Rs spent too much is false.
Don't worry you on the Right when the left calls you kooks. Them going to such great lenghts to do so, as well as calling us right-wing terrorists for showing Dissent (you know like they did under Bush), means they are 'concerned' that their newly found power may be fleeting and they are trying their best to discredit this movement.
CNN Cooper
CNN anchor Anderson Cooper interspersed "teabagging" references with analyst David Gergen's more staid commentary on how Republicans are still "searching for their voice."
"It's hard to talk when you're teabagging," Cooper explained. Gergen laughed, but Cooper kept a straight face.
MSNBC's David Shuster weaved a tapestry of "Animal House" humor Monday as he filled in for Countdown host Keith Olbermann.
The protests, he explained, amount to "Teabagging day for the right wing and they are going nuts for it."
He described the parties as simultaneously "full-throated" and "toothless," and continued: "They want to give President Obama a strong tongue-lashing and lick government spending." Shuster also noted how the protesters "whipped out" the demonstrations this past weekend.
Remember folks this is the news source of choice for those that hate FOX News,,,,, -

Now we should prepare for 2010. Now is time to start looking for alternative parties and vote out the entire congress. BOTH reps and dems. BOTH are responsible for the corruption. BOTH sides have shown they have NO fiscal responsibility.

Like I have written before. I disagree with many of Obamas policies, BUT I would like to see him have a chance,NOT with this congress though.Take away the dem and the reps power and let independents run congress with Obama as president. Then maybe we will have POSITIVE change. -

Yesterday, a video circulating showing a CNN reporter ping a few people out of the crowd who were holding divisive signs. One guy compared Obama's administration to fascism and the reporter called him out on live TV asking to explain what that means. When he was unable to give her a good answer she went on to pick on a man for carrying his 2-year old on his shoulder.
This video shows what happened immediately after the conflict:

Bush had his 25% of faith-based believers that could see no wrong in whatever he did. Obama has much the same. Most of the "left / right" rhetoric in our media is aimed at exciting the emotions of those people. They are not supposed to think about the consequences of actions in the spheres of foreign policy, economics, .... - but to remain dumb, docile and easy to manipulate.
Reply
I suggest to you Slate that many of the concerns of the "sensible" conservatives are fully agreed with by liberals as well. I continue arguing against things I objected to during the Bush administration when I see the Obama administration repeating them. Here's one that is elegantly stated by a eminent economist and member of the Clinton administration.
Obama’s Ersatz Capitalism
THE Obama administration’s $500 billion or more proposal to deal with America’s ailing banks has been described by some in the financial markets as a win-win-win proposal. Actually, it is a win-win-lose proposal: the banks win, investors win — and taxpayers lose.
Treasury hopes to get us out of the mess by replicating the flawed system that the private sector used to bring the world crashing down, with a proposal marked by overleveraging in the public sector, excessive complexity, poor incentives and a lack of transparency.
Let’s take a moment to remember what caused this mess in the first place. Banks got themselves, and our economy, into trouble by overleveraging — that is, using relatively little capital of their own, they borrowed heavily to buy extremely risky real estate assets. In the process, they used overly complex instruments like collateralized debt obligations.
The prospect of high compensation gave managers incentives to be shortsighted and undertake excessive risk, rather than lend money prudently. Banks made all these mistakes without anyone knowing, partly because so much of what they were doing was “off balance sheet” financing.
.... The main problem is not a lack of liquidity. If it were, then a far simpler program would work: just provide the funds without loan guarantees. The real issue is that the banks made bad loans in a bubble and were highly leveraged. They have lost their capital, and this capital has to be replaced.
Paying fair market values for the assets will not work. Only by overpaying for the assets will the banks be adequately recapitalized. But overpaying for the assets simply shifts the losses to the government. In other words, the Geithner plan works only if and when the taxpayer loses big time. ....
What the Obama administration is doing is far worse than nationalization: it is ersatz capitalism, the privatizing of gains and the socializing of losses. It is a “partnership” in which one partner robs the other. And such partnerships — with the private sector in control — have perverse incentives, worse even than the ones that got us into the mess....

The general trend during the Reagen and Bush years was for wealth to be concentrated into few hands (which was a recipe for depression/recession). Unless your kids are in a family that is already very wealthy, they have a better chance of excelling in an economy that is more egalitarian.

Has anyone ever seen the movie "The Best Years of Our Lives" ? It's a movie about four brave Americans who have to cope with their return to America after serving in WW2. Each has his own peculiar burden to carry.

There's a scene in the drug store where some irate and angry customer sees the uniform worn by Harold Russel's character and gets all upset because he thought America should have worked with Hitler .... and that all the bad things said about Hitler were just made up by the Media.
The Dana Andrews character leaps at this guy and starts beating him up.
I have to admit ... sometimes I feel like grabbing the lapels like that Dana Andrews character and teaching some of these America Hating Right Wing Extremists to appreciate America.
Why they want to turn our nation into a pale imitation of Fascist Societies that have long since failed is beyond me.
There's even some ex-military people here on Propeller who regularly voice a cynical and crass attitude to our nation.
Well ... look at 4thchance's comment above.
I really don't understand how they can stand such an empty life - with absolutely no moral center.
They claim they are Christians ... then they work to PREVENT Children from getting Health Care.
They claim they are Patriots ... but their partisanship is so remarkably strong - you see nothing but loyalty to the PARTY ... and the party they support CLAIMS to be ANTI-GOVERNMENT!
And of course, this anti-government claim produced the anticipated result when after 8 years of their rule ... our nation very nearly stepped off the precipice.
And NOW they're upset that a DEMOCRATIC President is trying to FIX things ... even though it's BUSH'S economic advisor who is the main proponent of the FIX!
Like I say ... check out "The Best Years of Our Lives" ... and watch for the scene in the Department Store.

In case you haven't realized it yet...There isn't much comment about the "tea party"...Really no matter which political party is in control...It has boiled down to bureaucrats leading and not for the benefit of the common people of the US. It is definitely the blind leading the blind...Our country has by government leadership purposely turned it's back on GOD, and what is sacred and not to be triffled with... We have banned any reference to God in our public schools since 1959 and we wonder why we have a Columbine??? No fear of God is a good start. We take that which God says is SACRED, that is the marriage between a man and a woman and desecrate that holy union with an abomination of sodomites and we think that everything is going to work out??? Fat chance! Finally, we have government policy that attacks the nation of Israel, by taking away iants bounderies and land to leave it in a weakened defensive nation and we think that the God of Abrham, Isaac, and Jacob will bless us??? You need your heart examined. My Friend, Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior, came a seed of the Jewish people and we think that it is ok to turn our back on them at this or any time??? What does your short term memory tell you...We stood and fought against the anti christ Hitler and liberated the ravished European Jews and God Blessed us and our nation...Wake up or it is over.

When George W. Bush manipulated the Christian Conservatives to gain political power - that was the work of the devil.
It should interest you to know that Karl Rove is an avowed ATHIEST!
See, Godless Republicans have infiltrated the party for their devilish intents.
That's why I supported Barack Obama for President --- he is obviously a Christian - - - unlike George W. Bush ... who is a FAKE Christian - as was pointed out in David Kuo's book.
David Kuo wrote the book, "Tempting Faith" ... he was a Christian and White House insider who witnessed Karl and George laughing at and ridiculing the Christian Conservative base that elected GW.

Genesis 3:15 'An I will put emenity between thee and the woman, between thy seed and her seed. And he will bruise thy head and thou shalt bruise his heal."
It is God's decree against satan. The seed (singular) will destoy satan and satan will bruise his heal. Satan's destroyer,(the Messiah) would come as the seed of a woman. The promise, was later to be through Abraham, and therefore a jewish woman. Satan's attacks are seen most violent against women and jews because that is from where he is defeated. The son of God came into this world through a VIRGIN JEWISH WOMAN.SEE Isaiah 7:14.
Gave his life as a ransom for many. See Isaiah 53. Jesus is the sacrificial lamb of God to make full attonement for your sins. Call on him and be saved. -

This is a tired argument folks, keep pointing back to Bush and his errors and faults and that gives Obama free reign to do what ever he wishes - I don't think so.
Reply
The problem here today and the reason the tea parties have and will continue to occur is the philosophy of taking from one to give to another and Obama and Pelosi using increased taxes and new & expanded social handout programs to facilitate that transfer of wealth.
What it boils down to is this, “democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.”
I see people here & at other left leaning forums talking about the tea party people not wanting to pay taxes but for the most part it is the media and left wing celebrities saying that is what it is about, you don't see the people demonstrating saying that, they do pay taxes they just think enough is enough. Especially when the increase in government and taxes is accompanied with speeches about "spreading the wealth".
What is really occurring here and CNN and MSNBS is a red herring - label it all as nothing but racist and then you can totally ignore what the people protesting are really protesting about.
I truly am amazed that the left wing folks here are against these tea parties since they are the modern originators of protest. In our form of government that is how the people try to change the direction of government (civil protest and then at the voting booth). I am also surprised at the finger pointing at the so called right wing extremists and accusing them of plotting to over throw the government. It was not that long ago that the left wingers here were saying essentially the same thing about the Bush administration, marching on Washington, arrested and tried for treason, etc., etc., Tell me what the difference is between the two groups other than left or right ideology? Yes sure we all should have been protesting the increase in spending during Bush’s tenure but we didn’t and for a number of reasons, some valid, some not, but that was then, this is now and Washington today is simply planning on taking too stinking much. -
