I remember seeing lobster at $.85 a pound and thinking that it was expensive because my Dad would go to the local lobster pound and get them for $.50 a pound. Usually we would go up to Peaks Island in Casco bay where my Mother grew up and her Uncle was a Lobster fisherman and he would boil up as many as we could eat, usually about six to seven chix apiece. This past fall when gas prices were still at around $4.00 a gallon the bottom fell out of the lobster market and we were able to buy them for $2.99 a pound. Now they are back up to $8.99 a pound.
