Posted By RedRiverJ 7 months, 2 weeks ago in NewsThanks to a new study out from the Pew Hispanic Center today, we now have a solid citation for there being more than 8 million illegal foreign workers currently holding U.S. jobs!
Using the largest estimate of illegal workers in agriculture jobs, that means more than 7 million illegal aliens are holding down jobs in the construction, manufacturing and service industries.
Those are the jobs being sought (yes, this is the same number) by more than 7 million unemployed American workers who have no more than a high school education.

I don't know where in the hell you live but here you won't find an illegal working for a union..In fact the unions here are extremely active in ,,how should i say...discouraging illegals at the work palce period.

Also, the illegal aliens will take the below minimum wage that repugs fight increases of! Look how even the wage of butchers in chicken plants is half what it was 60 years ago (adjusted for standard of living)!
Repugs then in control of Congress and Dumya couldn't agree on how to solve this, so the problems persists!

To start with, the presence of illegal workers does not mean that they are in Unions. The state of Arkansas, and the southwestern part of Missouri are cluttered with the poultry business. I know, because I live in this region. None of the produce plants are union plants, but most of their labor is hispanic.

It matters not which poultry industry you refer to, Tysons, Georges, Honeysuckle White, or any of the others. Al of them in this region are non union.
Now, lets look at the citrus picking that takes place in Texas. This is also non union and is 90% or better hispanic.
Fact is, the unions are pretty washed up, and have been since the days of ReYgun. You should be able to tell this by the number of jobs that have gone overseas in the last 30 years.
If yer gonna put these articles up for us to read, try the ones that have a few correct facts in them!

Union workers have been fooled into thinking that the Unions will protect them. And they will to a certain point. Illegals can and do join Unions . when you add up the dues they will pay to the Unions monthly, Americans you are on your way out of jobs. How do I know? That's part of my job is to make deals, and concessions with Unions.

Unions are a good thing in the major cities on larger construction jobs, and with major manufacturers. We need their clout to keep the companies in check. But what hurts all of us most is when the unions go to bat for a worker whom they know should be fired in the first place.

I know of one situation where a friend of mine in KC, Mo. caught a union employee stealing from a Safeway Grocery store. (my friend was the manager on duty) When he tried to arrest the worker, the worker attempted to run over him with a car. The union went to bat for the employee.
The store manager was also a full time deputy with the Jackson County Sheriffs office, yet the union insisted that the worker be allowed to keep his job.
This is the kind of thing that makes the unions unpopular.-

ADAGUY - In NYC the constructuion unions have a lock on virtually all work done adding considerable amounts to the costs.

Some examples - at one time I had a non union office construction company. We were actually in partnership with a union company. - We would low ball the bid & get the job, but as soon as the site opened, the union shop would throw up a picket line & force closure. The contractors would capitulate & pay the union shop rate & my guys - the non-union ones would go right back to work & do the job.
#2 a couple of hundred & a phanthom time sheet would placate the union shop steward all the time - so much for union protection.
We always paid a fair wage to the men working for us, but they had to do an actual day's work, unlike most constructiion union workers.

Red River: GM is not in trouble because of the Unions--GM and all the American made cars are in trouble because Americans love to buy Foreign made. Well, I have a GM car l990 and have yet to spend 05 cents on it excepting for oil and tires. Now,why do people buy foreign made> It's a status symbol. So now is Honda and Walmart feeding our poor? Of course not.

The unions are a huge part of the problem for GM along with the management, stockholders and government mediators. No one with half a brain would have agreed to the contracts offered by GM to the unions unless Uncle Sam would not have been "helping". GM's biggest challenge when competing with foreign builders is the cost. For every car sold, an average of $2000 goes for retired employees benefits. That's a lot of money for people no longer helping the factory.
For your 1990 car not costing you anything other than oil and gas, I challenge. No brake work? No transmissions? No radiators? No electrical systems failing? No door hinge pins being recalled 4 times? No fuel filters failing? No coil packs catching fire? These are but a few of the issues I had with my last GM cars. As to buying foreign, I was very tempted after the last car fire in my 2003 Caddy. We've since changed to Fords and have had remarkably good service.

I'm so sick of these illegals taking everything away from the citizens including those unemployed. Sure don't see too many unemployed mexican illegals running around. When they're not out stealing our jobs, they're all in the welfare office and social security office getting benefits. They don't even have to file taxes due to no papers saying they're a citizen but, yet get benefits. WTF?!!!!!!!!!!

Guys, your worried about the low paying jobs taken by the sothern immigration but fail to see the northern immigration issue were Canadians are coming across the border taking high paying jobs from Americans. Next time you go to work, ask your boss how many Canadians are in your organization with only a green card status. Believe me, they want you to focus on the low paying jobs. That's not the total story. We technically have a hiring freeze in my company however, there have been people replaced when they move on. Most of the engineers we're hiring currently are from Europe, China or India. Not for the want or desire to hire Americans, but our schools are not turning out engineers. Get your schools to stop the touchy feely courses and start teaching the hard sciences again. Get rid of the professors that have teaching assistants teaching and make the professors teach. When the recession ends in 2012, we will have a great need for rebuilding the roads, bridges, power grids, etc., that Obama's stimulus is not doing.

They're working for an international company dealing with communications. They're division is threatening a strike if they don't get raises and increases to their benefits.

BTW that division lost almost $ 200 million over the last 3 years, which they thought was almost funny. I wonder when they stop laughing? When the division is shut down, sold off or moved overseas?
