With states needing as much revenue as possible during this recession, it looks like Congress is now ready to move in the direction of creating a sort of "Internet sales tax," forcing e-tailers such as Amazon.com, eBay and the like to collect sales tax on purchases even if the buyer is from a state where the e-tailer has no brick-and-mortar presence.

    The 14th Amendment
    Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
    Section 5. The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
    The federal Government is not at leisure to tax us...as No state may abridge immunities and priveleges, nor shall they...as they enforce this law.

    Amendment XVI
    The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

    Does this make sense...are they coherent?

    Amendment X

    The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

    I think they should give up! We are "We The People" not the Courts or government. ref:ww.law.cornell.edu

    Just what we need, more taxes! We should be concerned with forcing the govenment to live within its means. We are taxed enough!!!
