This Will Make Some People Mad. »
Posted By Shixa_Reborn 6 months, 3 weeks ago in ReligionWe always hear about the many amazing things that Jesus of Nazareth apparently did, but nobody ever talks about the things that Jesus supposedly COULD have done, you know being omnipotent and all.
Well, wonder no more.

I think the problem is, we Christian Conservatives are simply not of 'elevated' mental powers to digest the numerous contradictions in the Bible.

It's the very fact that we've become 'okay' with contradictions ... that we joined the Republican Party.

Teenage jesus, the lost years of the jewish son of god's life, where he experimented with his sexuality, with the naughty neighbor boy, with the goats and sheep, and when it didn't work out, turned them into stone or salt or otherwise smote them. Just recently, teenage jesus turned me into a newt, but I got better.

Can you imagine how impossible Mary, the jewish mother of the son of the jewish teenage god, was to live with. Conversation at a public stoning: Hi Mary, how's that immaculately concieved son of yours doing, does he have a job yet, my son is studying to be a Roman Soldier. Well, he cured 5 lepers yesterday, and made 5 blind men lame, turned wine into urine and converted 5 homosexuals into hetrosexual pedophile priests. He's captain of the debate team, and is spending his summers wantering alone in the desert, communiticating with the floating head of Charleton Heston.-

What was he doing as a teenager or as a child? An absolute mystery. As are the 30 completely unknown years of his supposed life (as clearly the birth story was completely concocted)....just God's kid hangin' out on Earth, layin' low.

That was wonderful Shixa...sacrilicious....as effective as Hitchens "God is Not Great".
But the majority of the world has thousands of years of fear, subjugation, and condemnation to get over before they can even consider shedding themselves of religion. I have always said the first heretics did not live long lives. The church ensured of that. Fifteen hundred years of very little questioning.
Weird they mentioned Continental Drift as that phenomenon certainly shows that if there were some omnipotent being out there it apparently would get its jollies from f-cking with us, crushing his creations with earthquakes, drowning them in tsunami's, and occasionally tossing up some magma for good measure.
As with life, nothing is certain, stable, or truly predictable. Of course if there were no "order" (as religion attempts to define) and everything was truly random that would be all too simple for most to grasp. In the meantime religion fills their void.
