America's UN Boycott Backfires »

The Obama administration and the United States as a whole will be
haunted for a long time by the decision to boycott a United Nations
international conference on racism and intolerance starting today in
Geneva.

For the review that runs all this week, many nations have worked for months in bare-knuckle negotiations to create a report erasing offensive provisions, a report that the United States--a hoped for shining star with its first African-American president--could live with.

Instead, the United States turned its back on a chance to do more to enhance its image across the developing world than any grand tour of Europe could ever accomplish. Washington ran away from a confrontation that many struggling human rights activists in the poorest and often most repressed countries would have welcomed.

"Had the United States sent a high-level delegation reflecting the richness and diversity of our country, it would have sent a powerful message to the world that we're ready to lead by example," the caucus said. "Instead, the administration opted to boycott the conference, a decision that does not advance the cause of combating racism and intolerance but rather sets the cause back."

What is the US afraid of? Its not some kind of tribunal. Not being there won't make any criticism go away. Is this the change Obama was talking about?

Just another example of the damage to the US caused by israel-first traitors in our government. Clearly the Obama administration, like the Bush administration, is under the control of racist zionists when it comes to the mideast.

US government would have no problem going to the conference since its first African American president would be there to show to the world that America has changed to a point to elect an African merican as a president but...this had to be sacrificed for the sake of Israel and supporting its genocidal policies. While many average man and woman on the street from whites to non whites voted for Obama, they really don't have clue about what a liability Israel has become to America.
US can not go to a conference aimed at addressing the issue of racism while it is supporting one of the most openly racist apartheid and its genocidal policy. Once again US interest is being sacrificed for Israel. It is American people who pay taxes and their government should represent them and yet agian it is representing Israelis who don't pay taxes to US government, they only collect taxes from US government few times a year. TAXATION with REPRESENTATION ha? what a farce...
