Americas Summit: Obama's Missed Opportunity »

Posted By pc25 6 months, 3 weeks ago in News

If President Barack Obama's goal at the fifth Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago this weekend was to be better liked by the region's dictators and left-wing populists than his predecessor George W. Bush, the White House can chalk up a win.

If, on the other hand, the commander in chief sought to advance American ideals, things didn't go well. As the mainstream press reported, Mr. Obama seemed well received. But the freest country in the region took a beating from Venezuela's Hugo Chávez, Bolivia's Evo Morales, and Nicaragua's Danny Ortega.

Change! Obama Refuses to Defend US From Marxist Tirade at Summit of Americas

Barack Obama refused to defend the United States today after a 50 minute-long tirade by Marxist Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega.
Ortega blamed the US for the problems in the hemisphere.
Obama sat silent during the speech and later would not comment on the tirade.

Obama Defends Himself But Not His Country at Summit of Americas
    Don't blame me!

After Nicaraguan Marxist President Daniel Ortega attacked America for 50 minutes in his speech today, Barack Obama smiled and shook his hand.

U.S. President Barack Obama and Nicaragua's President Daniel Ortega (L) talk during the official photograph session at the 5th Summit of the Americas in Port of Spain, April 18, 2009.

Latin American leaders continued to pile on the US at the Summit of the Americas on Saturday.

Barack Obama defended himself from attacks aimed at America today- but would not defend the United States.
And, he was wrong on his history.

Obama Poses With Marxist Hugo Chavez While Murderer Looks On(?)
    A murderer looks on?

Winston at Spirit of Man passed this on.

"Having lived in Venezuela I recognize the man in the back ground between Obama and Chavez. He is Nicolas Maduro and is a murderer. I have seen, in person, the bullet wounds on people who survived his shots. Sadly, not all survived. It is so irritating when people pretend to know what they are opining on and have no true perspective at all!"

Too bad Mr. Obama didn't have a copy of the late 1990s bestseller "The Perfect Latin American Idiot" as a gift for Mr. Chávez. Another way Mr. Obama could have neutralized the left would have been to announce a White House push for ratification of the U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement. That didn't happen either. He only promised to talk some more, a strategy that will offend no one and accomplish nothing. It is a strategy that sums up, to date, Mr. Obama's foreign policy for the region.

So what this article is simply telling us is that 4 out of 5 despotic evil dictators support President Obama. Isn't that as bad as having Osama bin Ladin backing him too?

"Venezuela's Hugo Chávez, Bolivia's Evo Morales, and Nicaragua's Danny Ortega reminded Obama of his 20 years of listening to Wright.

If your life has been filled with hateful rhetoric, then you accept that as the normal way of talking and listening.

If you are raised where drugs and stealing are the norm, you think that those are the rules to live by.

No friend is perfect. If you will think about your friends, the probable reason that you are friends is because their fine qualities far outnumber the things that bug you about them.

I cannot see that that Venezuela's Hugo Chávez, Bolivia's Evo Morales, and Nicaragua's Danny Ortega have qualities that are so admirable that we can overlook their black side.

funny that no one has yet to bring this up...........

A month later, still no church for famously religious president

      http://hotair.com/archives/2009/04/07/a-month-late...

President Obama has not attended church services on any of the 11 Sundays since he took office, despite his pledge to find a new church after quitting Trinity United nearly a year ago because of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s incendiary rhetoric.

“We probably won’t make any firm decision on this until January, when we know what our lives our going to be like,” Obama told reporters last May at a press conference that he called to announce his break with Trinity.

But the president made no decision in January, February or March. And now, with Easter just days away, Obama has yet to reveal what church he may have chosen or when he might attend his first Sunday services as president…

Obama is not the first president to opt out of church services in Washington. Former President Ronald Reagan refrained from services, saying the security requirements were too much of a strain on a congregation.

Sweet: Obama distances himself from Farrakhan after Washington Post column about Farrakhan getting the Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Trumpeter Award

      http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2008/01/sweet_obam...

LAS VEGAS, NV.—Following a column in Tuesday’s Washington Post titled “Obama’s Farrakhan Test,” noting that a magazine linked to Obama’s minister, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, honored Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, Barack Obama said he condemned “the anti-Semitic statements made by Minister Farrakhan” and disagreed with a decision to honor him.

The column, by Richard Cohen said that Trumpet Newsmagazine last year, gave the Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Trumpeter Award to Farrakhan because he “truly epitomized greatness.”

Cohen made clear that Obama has nothing to do with Farrakhan’s anti-Semitic views. Cohen, however, called on Obama to distance himself from award because, Cohen wrote, Obama had an obligation to speak out because he could be the next president and wondered where is Obama’s “sense of outrage.”

After the column was published, Obama said in a statement, "I decry racism and anti-Semitism in every form and strongly condemn the anti-Semitic statements made by Minister Farrakhan. “I assume that Trumpet Magazine made its own decision to honor Farrakhan based on his efforts to rehabilitate ex-offenders, but it is not a decision with which I agree."

Obama’s campaign sent the statement to several major Jewish organizations and armed some of Obama’s most prominent Jewish supporters with talking points about Obama’s strong support of Israel. The matter came up during a previously scheduled conference call w the campaign’s Jewish Community outreach.

Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, said he welcomed Obama’s condemnation of Farrakhan and his disagreement with him getting the honor. " Issues of racism and anti-Semitism must be beyond the bounds of politics. When someone close to a political figure shows sympathy and support for an individual who makes his name espousing bigotry, that political figure needs to distance himself from that decision. Senator Obama has done just that.”

It seems Obama and Chavez has something in common - Bill Ayers!

        William Ayers and Hugo Chavez

Barack Obama's original political sponsor Wiliam Ayers has ties to the Hugo Chavez regime that apparently continue today. Here's how Hugo Chavez advertises Ayers as a member of the directorate of the Miranda International Center, a think tank funded by the Venezuelan government.
There is zero doubt he approved of this description of who he is below on the Venezuelan government Web site.

        Bill Ayers
        USA
        bayers@uic.edu
        212-576-8274

William Ayers was the leader of the revolutionary and anti-imperialist group The Weather Underground which initiated armed struggle against the government of the USA during most of the 10 years from inside the empire.

Now, he's a professor of education and executive investigator of the University of Illinois in Chicago. He's developed courses around the urban reform of schools, problems of capitalist education, and investigation. He is the author or editor of more than 11 books, including a memoir titled Fugitive Days on the struggle against the government of the United States.

Obama apologizes for America and Americans all over the world and hse sit through a tyrant, like Ortega's, tirade against the country he leads and his best reply was, "I hope I'm not blamed for things that happened when I was only 3 months old." Not only was his remark narcissistic and self serving, I was also struck by just how stupid, juvenile and inane it was to say something like that.

It is a shame that we must be viewed as inferior, appoligetic and murderous, greedy fools by our President to get our enemies to consider peace talks. By his comments, and actions, president Obama has shown he is a coward to those stronger leaders than he. And has proven that he will let nothing stop his applause from others. let the show go on, and on, an on, for three years and eight months and x many days. til we can look at new leadership that will be leadership not only in name but in quality.
You see I still remember New York, USS Cole and those that have sacrificed their lives for us ,and to an ungrateful bunch of Americans.
