Dissent is Not Unhealthy, Its Patriotic »

You’re not cutting taxes unless you are cutting spending as well. It’s one of the great myths of the Bush Administration. Yes, he cut the tax rate, but he and his Republican cohorts effectively raised taxes on the next generation by spending liken drunken sailors.

Obama is only worsening an already dire situation. It’s not a problem we can just tax our way out of either, because you put economic prosperity at risk whenever you raise taxes.

    Shana4Liberty,

Once again, the Obamamites are berating Conservatives for exercising the Constitutional Right of Protest. Whenever the LEFTISTS engage in protest, it is "OKAY", no matter how outlandish the protest may be e.g.; homosexual activists at their San Diego sponsored annual Gay-Pride Parade, some wearing hardly ANYTHING and some GROPING (or is that "GOPPYING"?) one another. Such behavior that would normally get one arrested on a city street in broad daylight, in front of CHILDREN, no less, AND it is billed as a Family Event! Our city taxes at work.

Yet when it comes to Conservative people exercising their Constitutional Right of Protest, then it's WRONG somehow to the LEFTIST/UTOPIANS. The Obamamites giving such sham "reasons" as either it's "backed by 'Big Business'", or propagated by, (horror of horrors) FOX NEWS! Oh, the HUMANITY!!! (Or is it: "Oh, the HANNITY!!!"?).

The fact that these American Workers/Taxpayers just might be acquainted with THEIR CONSTITUTION, and are thus aware that Mr. "57 states" and his Rubber Stamp-Congress has absolutely NO AUTHORITY for their Socialist, Utopian, Schemes & Dreams matters not to the MSM and the Obamamites (which are actually one and the same). They must DEMONIZE these protesters by ascribing their motives to something baser than actually caring about their progenies' money being spent YEARS before they are even BORN. How dare they so directly (or at all) question the soundness of "THE ONE's" SOCIALIST plans.

The author mentions "drunken sailors". I must say in defense of these brave men and women of the sea: At least they only spend what is theirs, unlike their COWARD-and-THIEF, OBAMA. He and his Rubber Stamp-Congress are indeed THIEVES, for they cause money to be printed that STEALS from the value of every dollar in our possession, with no thought for the future of Our Nation, Our AMERICA. I do pity OUR Service Members for having to serve under this megalomaniac. He actually makes Bill Clinton look good vis-a-vis the Military, and Clinton was anything but respected or honored by MOST of the Military I served with (last discharged 1995). For how can a Service Member, or anyone for that matter, respect or honor a Draft Dodger?

Yes, the Tea Bag Protesters had EVERY RIGHT to be there on April 15H, 2009, and it is unfortunate that these folks must work for a living and cannot devote more of their time to protesting OBAMA's policies. For unlike most ACORN members and LEFTISTS, they EARN a living AND PAY THE TAXES!

    FTA:
"The thing that bewilders me is this president just cut taxes for 95 percent of the American people. So I think the tea bags should be directed elsewhere because he certainly understands the burden that people face,” David Axelrod said Sunday

Do they really believe the American people don't understand that when the Feds spend trillions of dollars someone isn't going to have to pay for that?
What did one person after another say at those rallies - their children and grandchildren are going to pay for this massive debt
Perhaps Axelrod just simply doesn't understand that not everyone in this country focuses on themselves. Many are worried about the future of the country and what the burden is going to be on future generations

There seems to be one BIG difference between how the liberal democrats protest and how the conservative Republicans protest. That would be, you don't see much of any violence when the Republicans have protests, such as the Tea Parties. On the other hand, when the democrat liberals protest, there seems to be alot of violence. They run through the streets throwing rocks, breaking windows, turning over cop cars and burning them. They fight with the cops etc...I sure don't see that type of behavior from the conservative Republicans.

      Just an observation.

To put it simply disagreeing and trying to act to change that which one believes the government is doing wrong is most likely the most patriotic thing any American can do contrary to what the government wants you to believe. Its when people blindly follow the government that such atrocities such as the German holocaust occur. It should be remembered that without political dissent our nation would never had even existed.

It's OK for the left to protest. No, I'm sorry, it's not. It's OK for the right to protest. No, I'm sorry, it's not. It's OK for the left to protest. No, I'm sorry...

        Etc.

Dissent is a basic obligation in a democracy/republican form of government. End of story. Fini.

The rest is partisan bickering about who is really, really, really, finally and really truly and justifiably right. Or perhaps more to the point, who is wrong.

Or who protests better, see 4thchance's post above.

MANY OF THE TEA PARTY FOLKS SPENT THAT HUGE REFUND ON MAKING THEIR SIGNS.

The tea parties were legitimate protest. What I have a problem with is the claims that it was a grassroots movement when it was clearly promulgated and pushed by Fox and Republican organizations thus also negating the claim that it was bipartisan and diverse. Unfortunately there is no way of determining exactly what the crowd breakdown was but it was easy to see from the hundreds of photos that it clearly was not a diverse set of crowds and since Obama still enjoys a 60%+ approval rating it is unlikely that the party crowds were really bipartisan.
Also an unfortunate side effect of any demonstration of this nature is that it tends to bring out the kooks and fringe elements that tend to distract from the main message. A real well organized demonstration tends to minimize the distractions and emphasize the main point and in many instances that was not the case with the tea parties.
