Secession may be how America began, but for a state to secede from America that state would no longer be America, thus it's impossible for secession NOT to be un-American.

Oh, please. Can there really be anything more idiotic than this rhetorical sideshow?

Well blame Obama bin Laden. I doubt Texas will be the only one.

If they keep George Bush then it will be OK for them to secede. But in 20 years their economy will be more like Mexico's than like the US.

Frankly I wish all the red states would secede. The we can stop subsidizing them.

Don't you realize that Perry was just mentioning the word "secession" because he's fixin to go up against Hutchinson in what's going to be a high-profile Governor's race?

Hmm let them leave and lose all that tax money, I kind of doubt the federal government would even consider it.

If Texans are against paying high taxes then they should not have joined the other red states and supported Bush. I'm not in favor of splitting the union, but Texas needs to realize that they are a big part of the problem with the economy today.

Some things I agree with but not this. This is one of the reasons I can never support Ron Paul. He's not acknowledging Perry's baser motives and the fact that he has no legitimate reason to secede.

More power to them for talking about it. As much wranging as goes on on here, the parties don't get that they are failures. What can save the US? Not sure. Not really sure there is anything left to save...

Tuck Fexas. Too bad, the state with Austin, a great city surrounded by hicks, militia level inbred morons, evangelical psychopaths, delusional brokeback cowboys, oil tycoons, billionaire owners of AM radio paying Oxy Limpboy 40 million a year to fill airwaves with traitorous racist propanda, a state that passed creationism to brainwash generations of idiot children.

Oh well, I guess morons have to live somewhere.

I'm as conservative as they come but I can't stand when people quote this moron. Ron Paul doesn't belong in the senate or the white house. He belongs in the enchanted village. They need to lock this nut up and lose the key. Instead of thinking Texas should become independent again, he should work on ways make changes to better Texas.

Remember, many states did just that in the civil war, and the view is it was over the use of money...the industrial north was fat while the agricultural south was disparaged and denied the equal status quo.
Government has an odd way of historically proving it's downward fall into those places null and void. Darkness upon the deep. I an individual see the light. lol I enjoy produce grown from the ground...and choose not to eat...well you know...cars trucks and planes. The Cows and the birds agree.

Listen to what the liberals are ranting about. Ron Paul trying to make sense out of what it was reported that Perry said. All he said was that when Texas came into the Union they had an agreement that they could pull out at any time. They also at their own prerogative break into 5 separate states. I do not see either of those things happening. Much ado about nothing.

This is why strict Libertarianism doesn't work in a Democracy...
