I have not heard of one good reason to legalize marijuana. I'm totally against it. How does it actually help a person? What are the benefits? I can only think of all the negatives. Would you want our Congress to smoke before they make a decision? How about your surgeon before suregery? Your lawyer before a court room deciding your fate? How about the babysitter watching your children? How about the folks making your car for your family? How about your boss? etc..

Tango57 just because it's legal doesn't mean those situations would then be ok, just as nobody would want congress to be drunk before making decisions, surgeon drunk before surgery, lawyers before deciding your fate, babysitters watching your children while drinking etc...etc...basically all the rules and regulations that apply to alcohol should be with pot.

There is much less domestic violence with pot compared to alcohol, much less health problems, in comparison to legal alcohol, weed wins hands down. -

Actually, you have doubtless heard many good reasons, many times, over and over. What you're really saying is you haven't LISTENED to any of them. And why? You provide your own answer to that: because you're "totally against it." You are a prohibitionist, plain and simple. No good reasons for undoing prohibition, no matter how many times and in how many ways they're explained to you, will ever be sufficient to change your mind until your mind is able to open. Here's hoping that happens in your lifetime. -

Please don't confuse the arguments for legalization as having to be identical to the arguments for actually smoking marijuana.

Are there any arguments in favor of smoking cigarettes? They're legal.
Are there any arguments in favor of smashing your own head into a brick wall? That too is legal.
How about arguments in favor of eating diets high in trans and saturated fats? There's no laws against that (though some are starting to pop up).

It's disrespectful, along with arrogant, that Obama treated this like a joke. It's not a joke. It affects the lives of many Americans. It gives billions to murderous drug pushers. It costs the American taxpayers billions. It causes hardship to people who face serious health issues. For him to be flippant about this asinine drug law that impacts so many, took him down a notch in my estimation of him. Grow up Obama. Act like a grown up.

There are people with serious health issues they use this one drug for cancer PT , it slows down the cancer and helps with the pain. for medical reasons I think it should be legalized. In any way that it may prolong the spread of cancer and ease their pain I am for it. you may think what you want to think about me but I am used to that now, if it can again-slow the cancer down help them breath better and ease the pain why not, I have never heard of anyone who smokes that kills anyone, it is the hard drugs that causes them to be dangerious, if my loved one could be helped by smokeing it and gave us more time to be with them and not see them in pain everyday ,why not? you would have to have a perscription for it any way probley. I know there are people out there who feel the same why I do about this. and I dont mean for the good of it for yourself to get a high or anything. I'v never in my life smoked it. but for the causes I said to use it for, it should be legal.

No truthiness you dont understand, it wouldnt get out of contoll like that, Used for Those who dont have long to live only. cancer medical prblems that it can slow the cancer down gave them alitlle more maybe alot more time to live to do something they always wanted to do befor they go. more time with their familys -and their friends. The only way to get it is by a perscription, OH never mind evryone so afraid of it getting out of hand but thats why we have laws, I knew you wouldnt understand. lets just forget about this story it sucks nobody wants the truth anyway. Okay you guys all win. I never in my life thought that I would be saying this anyway to make it legal, but I said it because how it helps cancer PT, sorry this isnt even me talking like this and here I am doing it.I was so Stupid to say I thought it was alright to make it legal for the sick.

I presently live in Lithuania, and cannabis DOES already grow all over the place. During the summer I can pass yards in the middle of the city where it actually grows out of yards and onto the sidewalk. It's all "bunk", or nobody cares about it. The cops don't even look twice at it, or bother to pull it up. We have bigger problems, and not as much money as the US to send police to do people's gardening.
