UN row as Iran calls Israel racist »
Posted By dissent 6 months, 3 weeks ago in NewsUN diplomats have walked out of a speech in protest at comments delivered by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Delegates at the racism conference in Geneva disrupted Mr Ahmadinejad's speech when he claimed the Israeli Government is racist.
One heckler, wearing a rainbow-coloured wig, was bustled out of the conference room.
But his comments drew applause from some delegations that remained.
The US and other western countries decided to boycott the meeting over concerns that it would be used as a platform for criticism of Israel.

Hmmmm. So if you think your side is going to be systematically trashed, you don't show up?
Of course, boycotting makes a "statement." The impact of which is?-

irony.
the irony that the non-white people of the world will see white-dominance preciously refusing to attend a universal discussion on racism because it is not framed according to its liking. the irony that the boycott which is supposed to kill this conference has inadvertently promoted it and elevated it to world-wide headline news. the irony that this event would ordinarily have passed by unnoticed had the boycotting nations simply attended after all :\ -

It should be noted that the nations that marched out represent a rather small minority of human beings - and a group which itself has a long history of racism in the world. The overwhelming majority of mankind can see rather clearly that Israel is indeed a racist state.

Perhaps the most ironic of all is that the Israelis themselves openly admit their racism. How surreal to see the zionist pressure organizations in the US and some western european countries enforcing their racist political correctness on western governments!

I wouldn't call it "systematically trashed." President Ahmadinejad spoke the truth. Israel defines itself as a Jewish state--of, for, by Jews only. And their treatment of Palestinians is horrible. It is a sad fact that this country, the USA, that promotes "liberty and justice for all" goes hand-in-glove with Israel to deny liberty and justice to the Palestinians--who, by the way, are of the Semitic classification. Only a few brave Israelis like Uri Avnery (peace activist) protest this crime against humanity.

Interestingly enough, you seem to leave out the part that there are 55 Muslim countries in the world which consider themselves MUSLIM countries and treat their women, and non-Muslims as second class citizens. I find it amazing that you do not recognize the fact that the Palestinians, as you call them on the West Bank, are not citizens of Israel and like every other country in the world, are not privileged to the same rights as are a country's citizens. The Gaza Strip has been turned back to the people as Israel left it completely in 2005. Israel is under no obligation to allow a group of people who call for it's destruction to use any part of Israel as a land route. Israel is not obligated under international law or any law for that matter to let a single Gazan step foot on Israeli soil. Almost every country in the world controls it's borders, and Israel is no different. Israel is under no obligation to live up a higher standard than any other country in the world. The Palestinians want equality? Let them ask for peace and build a second Palestinian homeland run by Palestinians. The fact is that the Palestinians don't have a single person capable of creating and running and independent country. If you can name anyone who is up to the job, please name him or her.

The only time I ever saw Israel do differently, was after the attack on Georgia by Russia...then you would have thought Israel was a lamb. After all, Georgia bought their weapons from Israel, and Israel bought from the US.
Actions usually prove to be verifiable by the sight...and that's proof in the courts. I agree with Iran.-

What is with you people? Calitennflo are you just plain ignorant? Israel builds it's own weapons. It exports some of the finest assault rifles in the world. It builds its own tanks, and designs and builds its own rockets. The weapons that it may have sold to Georgia were not necessarily bought from the US. Israel has one of the largest arms design and manufacturing infrastructures in the world. Most of the weapons that it designs and builds are considered top notch by world standards. Those of you who are ignorant of the fact that Israel has such a large arms manufacturing ability are just that, ignorant. The only reason why Israel buys US jet fighters is because the US convinced Israel not to make the Kfir jet fighter, which by the way was considered to be one of the most sophisticated in the world. As Mark Twain said, "first get the facts, then you can distort them as you please".

if you are going to argue that it is wrong for Israel to attack an entire community in order to get at a few criminal individuals in their midst... I will agree
Reply
if you are going to argue that Israel is racist because it is a jewish nation for jews.. I disagree. On that basis Ireland, Spain, China, Italy, India... are all racist for having ethnic nations. you can live in Israel with equal legal protection without being Jewish, in fact there are Arab Israelis on the Knesset [parliament for the Shixas ;-) ]
if you argue, as Ahmidijenad (?) does that Israel; does not have a right to exist, then you are a racist. Just as arguing the Palestinians don't have a right to a nation is racist. All peoples have a right to self determination.-

Why can't the Israelis have their own state on some other land, let say Canada? Ahmadinejad and many including me agree with that. But Israel as it is today, a project of Zionist thugs, on lands stolen from Palestinians is a political system that should be dismantled and replaced by a system that is voted on by all the people who have a say on that land which means:
Reply
-Palestinians of any religion Jews, Christians and Muslims
-Palestinian refugees who now live in refugee camps since their home was stolen at gun point from them by , you guessed it Israelis
-those Palestinians who are nto living in refugee camps but were displaced and now live in other countries.
Did you say equal legalprotection?
In Israel any Arab can be arrested anytime anywhere without being charged with any crime, but simply for being an Arab. This is the law and it sure gives a new meaning to "legal protection". -

Well those are the usual zionist excuses for their racism, but no one believes them. Claiming a "jewish master race" state in Palestine is no different than claiming a "aryan master race" state in nazi germany or a "white master race" state in South Africa. Furthermore, given that the zionists have ethnic cleansed over SEVEN MILLION christians and moslems, and that the christians and moslems have ALWAYS been the majority of Palestinians (currently 10.5 million christians and moslems versus 5.5 million jews according to the UN census), Your arguments for privileged racism by a minority are simply lies. I suggest you start informing yourself of the reeal situation instead of just parroting zionist propaganda aimed at excusing crimes against humanity. Here is a good source from Oxford University about the truth of the situation.

Palestinian displacement: a case apart?
This issue of FMR was planned long before the humanitarian crisis which has displaced 20% of the Lebanese population. Articles look beyond the current events to what most international observers regard as the root causes of conflict and displacement in the Middle East. The protracted nature of the displacement, the
complexity of the means used to dispossess Palestinians and the apparent double standards of the international community do indeed make this a case apart.
From high points in the West Bank it is possible to see across Israel/Palestine – from the Dead Sea to the Mediterranean. The articles in this issue discuss how displacement from this tiny sliver of land has had and continues to have far-reaching global consequences.
The great majority of the seven million Palestinian refugees still live within 100km of the borders of Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip where their homes of origin are located. They are refugees because Israel – committed toa permanent Jewish majority and granting citizenship to any member of the Jewish diaspora – denies Palestinians their basic human right to return to their homes of origin. Palestinians are be the world’s largest refugee population, yet....

Actually we should never forget that the UN Security Council REJECTED the partition of Palestine (with US support) and was in the process of setting up a single state with equal rights for all indpendent of race or religion when the zionists started their massive campaign of terrorism and ethnic cleansing.
Reply
It is now time to revoke Israeli membership of the UN and get back to applying the basic principles of American and international democracy - a single state in all of Palestine. -

but wondering...
last I heard, arabs who were Israeli citizens could vote but this group includes hardly anoyone who lives in gaza or the west bank, where people have no voting rights when it comes to the actual govt whose control they are living under.
has this changed?
I also read that Israel doesn't include arabs in their official census unless they are actual citizens. that's why the "offical" percentage of arabs in israel stands at approx. 20% (approx. 1.4 million) when the actual number of arabs under israeli control is much much higher (nearly 4 million).
if this is true, then there is a big difference between Israel and some of the countries you mentioned above. and, when talking about equal protection, can we just exclude all these people in gaza and the west bank who are obviously under-represented? -

I agree that it is unfortunate that criticism of Isreal is coming from a maniac like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. You would think that friends of Isreal would have stuck around to defend any such criticism. I guees Isreal is a friend that you defend with out having to defend for their actions.-

So we keep the UN here because of what? I understand the original thoughts of FDR was to spread democracy and the UN was supposed to be that tool. However it's been a huge cash cow for the dishonest and they've cost over 100K dead American soldiers and sailors. It's time to evict the UN and send them packing. Especially when they have the world's new Hitler preaching hate. I didn't remember Israel preaching the destruction of all Muslims and Christians the last time the spoke at the UN do you? Guys like this should lose their pulpits and be dumped in the ash heap of history.

I hope the world acts before this maniac from Iran gets the bomb! Iran should have be told to sit the hell down and shut the hell up long ago! The Jews know what happened the last time they sat around waiting to see if those threatening them meant it. Lesson learned. I'm willing to bet they will not sit around and wait this time!

Ahmadinejad does have a regrettable tendency to run off at the mouth (not unlike some other past and present world leaders). Still some of the quotes attributed to him have been shown to be inaccurate. Let's say that I tend to think he exaggerates somewhat but is expressing a little bit of truth also.

I used to have a Jewish co-worker who I discussed politics with on breaks. Once, when the discussion got around to my criticisms of Israel, I added that I wasn't claiming that anyone in Israel was racially prejudiced towards the Palestinians. She responded, "Oh, don't make that assumption. There are plenty of prejudiced people in Israel."-

I see resorting to name calling is a true sign of weekness and guilt, or on a good note, a sign of misunderstanding. I am not anti-jew or any of that sort. I speak truth. Anyone says anything true about Zionists is doomed and pelted with stones. Saddam was vocal opponent of Zionists and there you go, Zionists' foster parent took care of him, and now Iran!!!!!!!!!!!!! All at the expense of non-jews loosing their lives to save the ever falling Zionist state-America must wake up!!!!!

Truth hurts you, just as bombing besieged unarmed children and even babies hurt any conscience mind. I was in harmony with Israel existence until 2006 attacks on Lebenaon civilians and then I saw so much atrocities on youtube and everywhere else how poor indigenous people are treated by Zionists in their own homeland. Top it with their public appearance "crying wounded and shooting."
I am NO longer for evil and satanic faced Zionists. Zionists are cruel and wicked, and are famous historically for conspiracies. They camouflage, (overtly) fit in, and befriend their host to target their ill-conceived enemy by putting their host at forefront, while Zionists hide behind their host. Zionists could be best described as parasites, sucking blood out of their host until they have sucked dry their host.
No Zionists are dying in Iraq or Afghanistan, but they surely join Zionist Defense Force to protect their looted land. If Zionists have so much contempt for Arabs or Muslims, then why did they occupy the lands among them. Why dont they have their land somewhere else where they might be "comfortable?"
