Posted By gpsea1 6 months, 3 weeks ago in NewsGreenpeace activists held an "Earth Day Barbecue" at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) compound in Quezon City to call attention to how the government's distorted coal power policy aggravates rather than helps solve the global threat of climate change. The activists "roasted" a balloon replica of Planet Earth over charcoal, which is safer than the coal used in power plants, to illustrate how the relentless pursuit of coal-fired power plants is cooking the planet. In the barbecue were volunteers dressed as DENR Secretary Lito Atienza and Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes, both of whom play key roles in the Philippine Task Force on Climate Change and are part of the newly formed "Carbon-Cutting Coalition".

"Earth Survival: Climate Change Solutions." Has anyone told the green crowd that we're now heading into a cooling period which may be a longer term problem? So this would destroy most of the claims made by the global warming or now climate change crowd. Do you think if this actually happens, they would finally get real jobs or does protesting pay well these days?

many places have shown cooling, and some small regions have shown modest cooling as well. but this does not invalidate global warming theory, it is merely the result of regional variation, and an example of how varied and complex the climate system is. also, people who protest even today are not paid, it's just that many people now are using their gray matter and are not buying the corporate's brainwash. also, you mentioned real jobs, is there a fake job? if there is, then it's not called job at all, it's deception.

Good point, like all the energy used to gather, store, ship, and reprocess goods. It is a valid question. But the coal issue is still a vilid point, there are so many different options today but coal is still king for power, why? To make fat cats fatter of course.
