Now that he's fully committed himself to give immunity, will that shield these officers if they have been convicted in international court?

It's not a phony court. Many war criminals have been charged in it. Arrogance allows us to call these courts "phony', but there is nothing "phony" about them.

Pinochet was a military officer. A host of other criminals were also leaders of the military in their respective countries. Being in intelligence or a military officer shouldn't be the litmus test to determine whether you should be prosecuted or not. If that's the case, a whole lot of people from WWII and other wars should be free right now.

I just addressed the statement you made about military officers and intelligence agents getting "immunity". If waterboarding was used only on people that were directly responsible for terrorist acts and indeed there was reasonable suspicion that they had intelligence that could save lives, then i am all for using waterboarding. If there is evidence that these techniques were used randomly, then I would be firmly against that. If those techniques were indeed being used then i think the world should have known we were using these techniques. The fact that the whole thing was being covered up, allows suspicion. That's why we have this whole mess now. The President and his administration was doing something unlawful and refused to be honest and open about it.

It's torture in both cases. In one case there's extenuating circumstances, in the other there isn't. BTW, I'm not going by the law. i'm just giving my opinion. In the laws eyes, they're probably both just as wrong.

If we didn't want to live by these international laws we shouldn't have signed on to them. We didn't sign on to the ban on land mines and cluster bombs. But we did sign on to the no torture law. Bush should have just backed out of the treaty, at that point I think they wouldn't have a case.

Torture (waterboarding doesn't work). If it did, why did we need to waterboard one guy 183 times and another person 83 times?? Even if someone is a terrorist and has been responsible for a terrorist act, torture is still against US and international law.

It was when we prosecuted the Japanese for it after WWII. But that's different right....it's wrong when someone else does it.
Grow a brain. Waterboarding is torture. Has been considered torture for years....centuries.(comment_max_expanded_depth : 55) (comment depth : 11) (recursion depth : 10) (max_comment_reply_depth : 40) (comment_max_render_depth : 55)Reply

And if you're innocent? Too bad, sucks to be you....right?
You've got a neighbor who doesn't like you, who decides that a $500 dollar reward would help him live pretty comfortably, and decides to turn you in as a terrorist. You've done nothing but you're tortured anyway.
It's happened. But you don't care.(comment_max_expanded_depth : 55) (comment depth : 13) (recursion depth : 12) (max_comment_reply_depth : 40) (comment_max_render_depth : 55)Reply

You are the one with the little mind. "Probable cause" in this case is only the neighbor with a grudge or looking for the reward money telling the authorities that you are a terrorist. It's happened in Afghanistan. One person, who was likely innocent died. Others have been turned in by people who it turned out were actually members of al Qaeda or the Taliban.
Get your head out of your a$$ and wake up. Grow a brain.(comment_max_expanded_depth : 55) (comment depth : 15) (recursion depth : 14) (max_comment_reply_depth : 40) (comment_max_render_depth : 55)Reply

I take, by your neg, that the fact that innocent people have been tortured is fine by you.
Not surprised really. I'm sure that you probably agree with Limbaugh that if you can survive 6 interrogations a day, it's not torture.(comment_max_expanded_depth : 55) (comment depth : 14) (recursion depth : 13) (max_comment_reply_depth : 40) (comment_max_render_depth : 55)Reply

CNSNews.com
The CNSNews.com (or Cybercast News Service) is an American news website owned by the Media Research Center. It was founded on June 16, 1998 under the name "Conservative News Service" "Conservative" was changed to "Cybercast" in 2000 after the MRC was unable to trademark the name "Conservative News Service.
"In response to these shortcomings, MRC Chairman L. Brent Bozell III founded CNSNews.com in an effort to provide an alternative news source that would cover stories that are subject to the bias of omission and report on other news subject to bias by commission. CNSNews.com endeavors to fairly present all legitimate sides of a story and debunk popular, albeit incorrect, myths about cultural and policy issues."
Sounds all to familiar...... I believe they call it a right wing echo chamber.(comment_max_expanded_depth : 55) (comment depth : 8) (recursion depth : 7) (max_comment_reply_depth : 40) (comment_max_render_depth : 55)Reply
