Democrats Under Ethics Cloud Benefit From Distracted Public »
Posted By RedRiverJ 7 months ago in NewsAllegations of ethics violations by a handful of Democrats in recent months reached something of a crescendo this week
as two prominent members of Congress were accused of corruption.
California Rep. Jane Harman denied allegations that she offered to help seek reduced charges for two pro-Israel lobbyists suspected of espionage in exchange for help from a pro-Israel donor, also suspected Israeli agent, in lobbying House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to give Harman a key chairmanship.

Wonder how they will spin this to get Jane Harmon in the clear. Doesn't matter what she did she will stay in office just like Roland Burris, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd......they can do no wrong.-

Yes, Voters Did Reject Bush, Corruption, Pork And Bad Governance-- And They Also Overwhelmingly Rejected Conservatives
Reply
"I guess I can re-write this story everyday for as long as the Republicans want to keep sewing their empty-headed lies. Far right kook, Mark Sanford from the Know Nothing wing of the Republican Party, the governor of a small, religionist-obsessed former slave holding state, says conservatives didn't lose the election last week. It was just two weeks ago that Sanford and his smarmy ilk were warning Americans, hysterically, that Obama was either the "most liberal senator in America" or a socialist. Yesterday South Carolina's Bible-quoting wingnut explained how voters were just punishing Republicans for not being true to conservative ideals and that the nation voted for "the socialist" to chastise Republicans for slacking off on the rigors of the road to pure Know Nothing fascism. And, anyway, it was all Ted Stevens' fault."

No, no Red you don't understand, the liberal progressive democrats aren't ethically challenged like the republican mostly because they have no ethics to challenge. Therefore, we shouldn't hold them to any higher standard than they hold themselves. lol

'Devastating' indeed: Cheney tries to con the public into forgetting
Reply
"Isn't it wonderful that Dick Cheney has now taken over as the leader of the Republican Party? They've been running around headless and look who comes to save them. I'm sure many conservatives are just delighted that he's going out in public, front and center and taking care of things for them.
In his Fox News interview with Sean Hannity -- the second half of which ran last night -- he trotted out an attack narrative against President Obama, essentially agreeing with Hannity that he's installing "socialism," and calling Obama's stimulus plan "devastating" for the economy.
Evidently, he's hoping that going on the attack will make the public forget about the current economic situation, which we would only politely call "devastating."
We always knew Cheney was a con artist -- how else did he get to be vice president, after all? -- but the Hannity interviews have been a disgusting performance."
"Obviously, Cheney's say-so is not exactly credible (after all, this is the guy who told the public "there's no doubt" Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction). But that really isn't the point. Torture is illegal, period.
I get his game, though. He's running a con on the media and the public. He's betting on the idea that certain intelligence will never be declassified for a wide variety of reasons, so he knows that by shooting his mouth off with these demands he's probably safe. They will never come to light. Very shrewd, but he's the VICE."

Seriously, Obama's releasing of the CIA memos and his other antics this week has shifted attention away from more than democrat corruption. We need to keep up the pressure on congress regarding their spending and taxing. Don't forget Polosi says she's going send a new environment, global warming scheme to the senate this year. Then there is all the dollars Obama wants to spend completely ruining health care and there's more...........

Rightwing Smear Machine in Full Gear Over Obama Appointees
Reply
"Dahlia Lithwick---It's 11:45 a.m. on April 1, and if you run a Google News search on Harold Koh, dean of Yale Law School and President Obama's pick for legal adviser to the State Department, here's what you'll find: 13 pieces on far-right Web sites characterizing Koh as dangerous and anti-American; several Fox News stories, updated several times daily, one of which describes the anti-Koh screeds as "burning up the Internet"; and a measly two blog posts defending Koh from these attacks. But, of course, Koh believes nothing of the sort. And the only real revelation here is that truth can't be measured in Google hit counts or partisan hysteria."
"The complete bankruptcy of the rightwing disinformation machine is reaching epic proportions. The ideology which preaches American government should espouse Christian values transposes this ideal with an endless stream of lies and character assassinations based on neither facts nor opinion, just a venomous hatred for anyone or anything they believe stands in their way of controlling the information diseminated to the American citizens, and hence its control of the political agenda.
The party who cried "Bork" for over two decades, daily tries to Bork whomever falls into their crosshairs, truth be damned. Fortunately, many people have awoken from their stupor and proudly point out the hypocrisy and outright evil that it takes in falsely accusing folks of holding views that they never have. The truth can barely rise from bed while the lies have already traveled great distances."

Democrats Take Majority in House; Pelosi Poised to Become Speaker
"Tonight is a great victory for the American people," Pelosi said in a late-night speech in Washington. "Today the American people voted for change, and they voted for Democrats to take our country in a new direction." She described the vote as a mandate "to restore stability and bipartisanship" in Washington and for "a new direction" in the war in Iraq.
"The American people voted to restore integrity and honesty in Washington, D.C., and the Democrats intend to lead the most honest, most open and most ethical Congress in history," Pelosi said.

What's "Insect Jay" Bybee Doing These Days? Sitting on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, Glad You Asked
Reply
"Bybee cites no medical evidenc for determining whether these techniques were "safe" or not, nor -- as Jane Mayer has documented -- was there ever any research into the efficacy of torture as an effective means of questioning. Bybee had no reason to believe, as Bush asserted, that these techniques were designed to be "safe." And contrary to George Bush's claims, the Red Cross has determined that the methods used against Zubaydah are "categorically" torture, which is illegal under both US and international law.
Jay Bybee's job, since 2003, has been sitting on the 9th Circut Court of Appeals, deciding what is an isn't constitutional. In the wake of the release of these documents, which Andrew Sullivan rightly calls an "unprofessional travesty of lawyering," he ought to resign.
We're going to be calling for a Special Prosecutor tomorrow, so more on that later, but in the mean time -- there is ample evidence that we need one. The administration officials who ordered torture, and the lawyers who made it legal, need to be investigated and held accountable. And that's not going to happen without public pressure that gives Eric Holder the space to do it. You can sign the petition here. "

Are you kidding me? Your dream team of Cheney, Rummy and Wolfie tortured prisoners to induce falce confessions to prove a link between Al Qaeda and Iraq, so they could justify the mass murder of 5000 americans who murdered half a million innocent Iraqis for the profit of Haliburton and big oil and Apartheid Israel. Meanwhile, the arab murders of 3000 americans were let free, and are now taking over Pakistan.

Harmon is one more Jew in office who is there to support Israel, and should be deported, since she's a traitor, just like Wolfawitz and Libby and Pearl, neocon dual citizen Israel firsters who thought up and propagated the zionist lies leading to invasion of Iraq. AIPAC is a right wing lobby that runs this country completely, what ever they want, what ever Israel wants, they get, based on complete control of the american media, including News, Movies, Magazines and Newspapers. Billions of US tax dollars to support military operations in Israel. Dem or Repug, AIPAC doesn't care. Neither does the Republican Jewish Collition, its Israel first, all the time. Billionaire moguls of industry and entertainment, including faux noise Roger Ailes, manipulating every news article, every editorial. As it is, tax evaders and other criminals get appointed to high positions and are rewarded for their misbehavior. Washington ethics are the complete reverse from what happens in the "real world".-

The Legal Case Against Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Et Al., Is Murder One, Not Just War Crimes
Reply
"BuzzFlash fully supports trying Bush, Cheney, and their band of fellow sadists for war crimes, but while they are in the courtroom, let's not forget Murder One. Apparently, many in the mainstream press and blogosphere already have.
The focus right now is on legal memos justifying the horrifying and numbing repetition of torture against "high profile" targets. We have a short memory in America -- and most of what was in these memos -- except for the diabolical excess of the waterboarding and the medieval torture by insects -- was, as President Obama has said, pretty much already known.
Also known, but not discussed at this time, is that less upper echelon Al-Qaeda figures were murdered as a result of the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld torture jihad (euphemestically called in the mainstream corporate press "harsh" or "enhanced interrogation").
Uh, remember those photos of bludgeoned prisoners in body bags that came out of Abu Ghraib? (And we still have only seen a small portion of the visual evidence.) Those people were murdered as a result of the green light on torture. Even the Pentagon has declared some of the Guantanamo dead were victims of homicide. Then there are many "renditioned" individuals who disappeared into torture prisons around the world and have never reappeared."

Funny that congresswoman Harmon was the ONLY member of congress briefed on ENHANCED INTERROGATION techniques to send a letter of concern about it and suddenly she's the target of a justice department probe.. wiretapping a member of congress..
Reply
watch how this turns out.. may very well point to wrongdoing on the part of the Bush justice department..
Ms. Harman did send a one-page classified letter in February 2003 listing her equivocal objections to the interrogation program. She made her letter public in January 2008 after the CIA revealed that it had destroyed some interrogation videotapes. After lauding the CIA's efforts "in the current threat environment," she noted that "what was described raises profound policy questions and I am concerned about whether these have been as rigorously examined as the legal questions." Ms. Harman also vaguely wondered whether "these practices are consistent with the principles and policies of the United States," but she did not condemn them as either torture or illegal.-

But we do realize that the rabid right rabble seems to lead the Republican Party and has established their policy of opposition to anything Obama and the Democrats propose. The thing is that as the Bush adminstration lies continue to unravel, cons refuse to acknowledge when there's egg all over their face for all to see. We're supposed to forget about their embarrassingly weak attempts to defend what loyal "Bushies" did. Adding insult to injury is that cons give us not even a hint of reaction to suggest that when some of these BLATANT lies have been exposed, this might call into question the Bush administration's credibility relative to other scandals. *Duh...d'okay, so you got us...Bush DID torture but he and his minions would NEVER do anything like out a CIA agent...It's inconceivable, I tells ya!*

Really? Correct me if I’m wrong (and I’m not.)
Bush served out BOTH terms in full.
We only allow a President to serve 2 terms.
The voters NEVER rejected Bush or Clinton. We can’t say about Obama till after the 012 elections.
Corruption? Rejected? Unfortunately no.
Pork? Rejected? ROFLMAO!!!! I wish

"Pork? Rejected? ROFLMAO!!!! I wish
--Yeah, they did. Cons are so thick skulled that you think the fact that Obama is spending lots of money by itself is supposed to turn off voters. Do you have any indication that that's happening? No. Cons spent us into a hellhole and we have nothing to show for it but debt and fatter bank accounts for Bush, Cheney, and their Big Oil cronies. At least Obama is spending money in ways that the 90% of America Bush neglected for 8 years can appreciate. You people are going to destroy yourselves with your delusional thinking. -

I don't understand. If these politicans are doing things that are illegal why aren't they in jail. If we did those things we would be in jail. The law is for everyone, it shouldn't discriminate. If we know of wrongdoing we should raise holy hell to see that any politian be it republican or democrate be held accountable. We have laws that are for all Americans not just certain people. Next these people will try to change our constitution to suit themselves and for major power. Don't ever let that happen, ever!

THE GOP IS THE PARTY THAT CLAIMS TO HAVE CHRISTIAN "FAMILY VALUES," but promoted the TORTURE OF PRISONERS, in violation of international law, according to THE INTERNATIONAL RED CROSS.
There are many sources for that fact. Here’s one:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/03/16/terror/m...
And still, they try to deny that it happened or otherwise “cover” for it.
(The GOP is also the party of sex offenders Larry Craig and Mark Foley, graft expert Ted Stevens, convicted dirty trickster and burglar G. Gordon Liddy, lobbyist and GOP bribery expert Jack Abramoff, etc., etc.)
REPUBLICANS: THE PARTY OF FAMILY VALUES, BANKER BAILOUTS, CONVICTED FELONS, COVER-UPS AND TORTURE!
