Shaping the Debate »

It is a mistake to argue whether the number of people at the Sacramento Rally was 5,000 or 10,000. It matters not that Atlanta’s numbers were inflated by Sean Hannity’s appearance. The proper response to these sorts of comments is not to gainsay; rather, the best retort is to emphasize the gravity of the issues discussed at the Tea Parties.
Too often a good idea will die on the vine because of a perceived lack of interest. Note that Olbermann and Maddow et al. spent very little time discussing the topic of tax reform and reduction of federal spending. Those who attended the Tea Parties and those who support tax and spending reform should be talking about how these ideas will create more opportunities and eliminate the impediments to financial success.

Thanks for the invite, Shana. I realize the idea came from libertarians, but to answer your question, I did not attend a tea party because they were sponsored by the right wing and I happen to be a liberal:

Too bad you felt that way because in our area we tried very hard to welcome liberals, democrats, republicans and conservatives. And we did just that, we have several democrats they are concerned about many things going on especially HIGH taxes.

As far as I am concerned there are too many billionaires and multi-millionaires who pay far too little tax. they move all their money off shore to avoid taxes.

America has failed the middle class terribly in particular when so many people can't afford medical help.
America would be a lot better off with some socialism...some might call it compassion and other people might see that it is more of a "christian" society.
Make the elites pay like the Rothchilds, Rockefellers and the rest of the Bilderberg group who are nothing less than swindlers and manipulators-

There is the liberal lie. Lowering the tax rates on the rich has ALWAYS increased tax revenue. but that is not the punishment that liberals want. The reason for them to take it outside the country like Soros did is to avoid excessive taxes. Lower the taxes to a reasonable rate and the money comes back in and is used at risk in businesses. That increases jobs and business flourish. More jobs and greater profits means more to tax. Tax revenue goes up every time.

A lie that liberals tout is that companies pay taxes. Companies NEVER pay taxes. Their customers do. A tax is part of the cost of doing business. When the tax rate gets big enough then they become uncompetitive in the world economy. That is when the idea comes to leave the country to a place where the tax rate is more reasonable. There go the jobs. Great idea liberals. Tax away the jobs by taxing the rich and taxing the companies. One of the stupidest things the government does is to tax the defense manufacturers. They pass the tax on to the government. Silly. The government requires them to pay the tax and they get the money to pay for it from the government.
