The "Oprah Effect" occurs when Oprah Winfrey endorses a product, service, or even cause, thus (in general) causing a rise in attention and/or sales. Market intelligence firm Hitwise says that effect has hit Twitter, based on last Friday's Oprah episode focusing on the microblogging service.

    Human beings are such sheep. Twitter is just more regressive technology like texting. Someday people are simply going to stop speaking to each other.
