First British TV commercial for morning after pill will increase teenage promiscuity »
Posted By ekklesiawarrior 6 months, 2 weeks ago in NewsThe advertisement shows a young woman waking up in bed next to her partner and then going to a pharmacy to ask for the only morning-after pill.
The advertisement, which will be shown at 9pm after the watershed, on ITV, Channel 4 and Sky, will underline the fact that Levonelle One Step is effective for up to 72 hours after contraception has failed.
The Tory MP Ann Widdecombe, a pro-life campaigner, said: "This will make casual sex even more prevalent. Young people in particular will think that there are no consequences to having sex. We are deluding ourselves if we think showing it after the 9pm watershed will make any difference.
"We know that many teenagers are watching television well after 9pm. The result of this will be even more teenagers engaging in unprotected sex with all its consequences."
The commercial comes ahead of a decision by the Advertising Standards Authority whether to allow television adverts for condoms and abortion clinics to be advertised on television and radio for the first time.

The morning-after pill is available to women aged 16 and over to buy at most pharmacies. It is also available by contacting GP surgeries, family planning clinics and NHS walk-in centres.
