President Barack Obama's approval ratings have declined steadily since he took office three months ago. A new poll out today shows that as the president approaches his 100th day in office, the percentage of Americans that disapprove of his job performance has reached a new high.

Moreover, the spread between respondents that strongly approve or disapprove of Obama's job performance stands at just 34-32.

Rasmussen's results confirm the result of a Pew Research Center for the People and the Press poll from earlier this month. That poll showed that Obama had the most polarized poll results of any president in forty years

I would think the most upset would be the anti-war group, the ones that keep hollering that O is going to end the war and the budget will be fine.

And, I wonder if he thinks he is spending military money because he thinks that he will get binladen and be a big hero.

I'd heard his appearance at an Earth Day event didn't draw much of a crowd.....in fact, some of the tea parties had larger attendance.

Maybe this will shake him up enough that he will realize that he is president, not the Governments' PR man or a candidate.

He seems to not be taking his responsibilities. It's as if he thinks that if he appoints people, (probably vetted by the same people who ran his campaign), he can just sit back and play the role.

What disturbs me as much as anything is his appointing tax cheats and lobbyists, and signing a bill full of pork where no one could see him do it.

Lack of media coverage of the bill signing gives lie to his promise of transparency.

Obama's poll numbers will continue to creep downward mostly because he's not making anyone happy and he owes too many people.

This is off topic but I think appointing a special prosecutor to investigate what has happened with the TARP fund is definitely in order. The biggest problem with that is who can be trusted at this point?

You cons are cracking me up. You just glom onto any little glimmer of hope that Obama will screw up. Well keep trying. All you're doing is showing you a$$ as usual.

He still has the highest approval ratings of any President during his first 100 days.

His disapproval rating is about the same as the percentage of mindless morons who still think Bush did a good job.
    Imagine that..

"The longer he is in office, it seems, the more Americans are beginning to identify him with the policies he is proposing, and not the grand themes and generalizations of the presidential campaign."

Folks, if you go just one level deeper on the Rasmussen site, you will see that Obama's numbers have hardly changed at all over the last month:

        http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/pol...

The Political Machine headline is wishful thinking. If the economy is still in the tank three months from now and we're still begging the banks to lend out the money we gave them, you might see some real movement in the numbers. So far, I think the smaller shift represents a.) post-campaign hangover and b.) the dawning realization that there's no quick fix for our fiscal mess.
