This has the same truth and sincerity to it as sitting in a church for 20 years, being married by the pastor, having your children baptized by that pastor, contributing to that same church and listening to the sermons of that pastor on audio tape and then stating you knew nothing of the hate speech that was preached there every Sunday........-

..this isn't half as bad as Dumya and Condi taking a brief titled "OBL Determined to Attack Inside the USA" that mentioned the use of planes - and they ignored it before 911!
Reply
Of course Dumya was too busy setting a record for a president on vacation - he now owns the record for most vacation days and most days out of the country too! -

You guys are having a party for your own funeral. If Pelosi goes down on this issue, you can bet a lot of Republicans are going down with her. At a time when the Republican Party is already on the ropes, i don't think you could afford to lose too many more Republican representatives. As long as this issue was being kept under wraps, you guys kept your chance to filibuster in the Senate. If we have to say "bye-bye" to a couple more Senators, I think this smug laugh you have now will turn into howling sadness. I thought most of you would rather be silent and hope this whole thing quietly goes away from a political standpoint. But then i think maybe you guys are more masochistic than I previously believed.

Pelosi briefed on waterboarding in '02 [UPDATED]
Nancy Pelosi denies knowing U.S. officials used waterboarding — but GOP operatives are pointing to a 2007 Washington Post story which describes an hour-long 2002 briefing in which Pelosi was told about enhanced interrogation techniques in graphic detail.
Two unnamed officials told the paper that Pelosi, then a member of the Democratic minority, didn't raise substantial objections.
Joby Warrick and Dan Eggen wrote:
In September 2002, four members of Congress met in secret for a first look at a unique CIA program designed to wring vital information from reticent terrorism suspects in U.S. custody. For more than an hour, the bipartisan group, which included current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), was given a virtual tour of the CIA's overseas detention sites and the harsh techniques interrogators had devised to try to make their prisoners talk.
Among the techniques described, said two officials present, was waterboarding, a practice that years later would be condemned as torture by Democrats and some Republicans on Capitol Hill. But on that day, no objections were raised. Instead, at least two lawmakers in the room asked the CIA to push harder, two U.S. officials said.-

If she was so stupid that she did not realize the purpose of the briefing was to inform members of congress regarding interrogation techniques then she is not smart enough to have any input AT ALL into the running of this country.
Reply
If this comes to trial and it is decided those responsible are to be punished, then those congressional members are just as guilty as anyone.
Pelosi is a blatant liar and has botox for brains.-

After proof comes that she was told waterboarding would be used, her next lie will be that she thought it was going to be used for training purposes only.
Reply
Eventually she will be in the corner of the room with fresh, wet paint all around.

This is rather interesting, listed on the NY times site below.
Seems the dems are not agreeing on this subject. Strangely enough Pelosi is the biggest cheerleader of the inquiry panel, perhaps she thinks she would have more control? -

I think this entire prosecution threat is a smoke screen. The liberal progressives want to keep this on the front burner as far as the press goes but they will drag this out until next year and beyond. Then they will try to make it their big issue in the 2010 elections. They really need to make this work for t because it just about all the political cover they'll have left. They ran against George W. Bush in 2008 and they'll still be running against him in 2010 and 2012.

Actually, since she's been the Speaker for the last 3 years, why didn't she bring this up? Could it be she was flying around on our Air Force plane and having too much fun playing Secretary of State or writing nonbinding resolutions?
Reply
The power you folks craved for the last 12 years will haunt you for the next 30. Just like when Carter was in. The house, senate and courts were in his pocket. And all he managed to do was squander it. I hope you're ready for the radical changes in 2010, assuming the DNC doesn't find some way of blocking elections.

she wasn't the loudest, repugs were... she just knew it would have been a waste since the repugs in the senate always vote party line, so there would have been no conviction! Besides, only a repug controlled Copngress has tried to destroy the president so much as to try impeachment - tried with Johnson and tried with Clinton.

Obama at 100 Days: Strong Job Approval, Even Higher Personal Ratings
Reply
As he approaches the 100-day mark of his presidency, Barack Obama’s job approval ratings are higher than those of his most recent predecessors. However, the 44th president is even more distinguished by his strong personal popularity. Fully 73% of Americans – including as many as 46% of Republicans – hold a favorable view of Obama as a person. Fewer people held favorable impressions of George W. Bush (61%) and Bill Clinton (60%) early in their first years.

Thank god we have CSPAN which captured a lot of the repug congressional ills for those that could watch it. Then add that Dems at least promise transparency... while Cheney said he wasn't even part of the presidency to avoid turning records over to the archivist, or the lost e-mails to Congress, and repugs ignored congressional subpoenas too!

Anyone privy to the knowledge of torture needs to be investigated, and NOT by a so called "truth commission." That's short for "we'll spin our findings and stop short of saying out loud that anyone was responsible", (as happened with the 9/11 commission.) This needs to be investigated by the Justice Department, separate from ANY political influence. And that includes Obama stating his approval of investigations or not. The rule of law must stand alone, or we can kiss our way of life bye bye. Whoever was involved MUST be brought up for charges, be they republican or democrat. No Orwellian rhetoric, no more spin. Torture is illegal in this country. PERIOD.

Bush did nothing to avenge the Cole! Just like Reagan did nothing to avenge the bombing of our Marines in Lebanon which allowed OBL to say we are spineless asnd start his war against the west!

Bush's invasion and torture technigues created another generation of fanatical moslems who hate us! Bush alone is responsible for ignoring a brief that warned of 911! Bush and his neocons are alone responsible for over 8 thousand US deaths and over a million Iraqis according to international aid organizations.
Bush called it an ideological war than gave away all our former high moral ground! You are a fool who wants to blame libs; but, those libs are now about 78% of Americans, while you valueless, unscrupled, unconscionable fools argue your lack of anything!

My Fellow Americans: First of all water-boarding is sissy searching. Not torture as are the other phony procedures the sissy Liberals are stretching out of proportion. I say next time lets do some torture. How about cutting out some tongues, tearing off some fingernails, ball peening some toes, burning out some eyes, cigarette burning the body, busting some balls, maybe we can wrap it up with a head decapitation for the more difficult TERRORIST, YES TERRORIST, YES THE TERRORIST. Nazi Pelosi just can't tell the truth about anything because she is a born liar. Just like Bolshevik Frank, Hitler Rodman Clinton, Don't Mengel with Joe Biden, Kaiser Dodd, Killer Guitner, and Barbarian Obama. Yes, you Morons like Cussey Cushi, not so Jovial, DummyDon51, jerky Jordan11 etc. The list seems so endless and obviously from the breed of Non American Turn Coats. The Real American
