Rice lied when whe said at the G-8 Conference with Merkel that we had no overseas prisons - as Dumya said a month later that he was collecting all his high value prisoners from those foreign prisons at Gtimo - and did so!
Reply
She purposely argued that Sadam's aluminum tubes were used for enriching and wouldn't allow a CIA expert to testify against her on this one!
A national security advisor who ignored a brief titled "OBL Determined To Attack Inside the USA", that mentioned he use of planes - she ought to be rotting in a foreign jail, guilty of war crimes! -

Holy cats! What a hard-hitting, in-depth article.

Not only does it tell us that Abu Zubaydah, was a "suspected Al Qaeda terrorist", it also reveals to us that Dr. Rice was national security advisor in 2002.:
FTA: "The revelation has been made in a US Senate report, which has revealed Dr Rice was the national security adviser at the time."
I for one am glad that this article finally outs Dr. Rice as the NSA in 2002. Who knew? -

Of course she did. These people are not worthy of the name, "American". They have forgotten the faces of their fathers. Either we uphold the values of the Founders or we do not. We do not have the luxury of being supportive of values for some people and not for others.

Both Condi Rice and Colin Powell traded a role as "figureheads" for our corrupt elite for personal gain. Thoroughly corrupt the both of them. It remains to be seen to what extent Obama is another such figurehead. So far his record in economic policy, foreign policy and constitutional law is not promising.

Behind Colin Powell's Legend
...false narratives about historical events can steer the American people in directions that are harmful to their interests.
But false narratives about individuals can do the same, often getting the public to trust someone who doesn’t deserve it.
There has rarely been a better example of that than the case of retired Gen. Colin Powell. Across the political spectrum, pundits encouraged the American people to trust Colin Powell.
So, no one looked very closely at the troubling reality behind his pleasant façade. Which made him the perfect choice to sell the Iraq War.
This excerpt from the new book, Neck Deep, describes the real Colin Powell, the ambitious military bureaucrat who followed orders and put his career interests first:...

There were many very despicable people in the Bush Administration. Nearly all the top echelon fits that category and it really spilled all thru the Republican organization.

A very interesting thing I noticed while I was reading the article was a side link to the right about a Colombian Drug Kingpin who was being sentenced. Why did it catch my eye?
Well in the runup to the election I kept writing about McCain and the dirty Inner Circle he brought with him. One of the people I kept harping about was an Ohio man who firm had been fined $25 Million for dealing ammo and such to the the AUC, a group that I reported was fighting the FARC to take over the drug trade in Columbia. He was McCain's leading contributor and was the head of the Ohio for McCain Republican election committee. Nearly all of McCain's inner circle were like this guy.
Never know what can be seen if you pay attention.
I had hoped the Republican Party would ask the public for forgiveness for the Bush era, instead they decided to mount a media campaign to blame it all on Obama.
I will never vote for a Republican Candidate again.-

Good eyes, Cham. I didn't see that. So it seems there are hundreds of stories beneath the news that aren't being realized. I remember being amazed when Bush was President that there seemed to be at least one major scandal a week. As i look back at it, nothing was ever really done about it. It was left to fester, and brought a sense of hopelessness to this country not experienced since WWII. A man ran on the message of hope and people's eye's lit up like a man lost in the desert that stumbled upon an oasis. It was hard to accept that there was a thing such as hope in politics in America. To this day there is a lot of doubt out there that Obama can bring about the real change needed to bring that glimmer of hope back into America's eyes. I believe we can. Yes we did, because Yes we can. Now we have to clean up Congress and the Senate.

Ms Rice is smart,
But none the less, under the Bush Administration and under Ms Rice's "leadership" U.S. foreign policy was built on antagonism, not diplomacy. The antagonistic policy brought us two wars that have been disasters, antagonism of much of the world and very little good.

Why doesn't the news channels go to the building in LA where the 'tortured' were going to attack next, before we found out what they were going to do and ask them if they would have rather the CIA didn't use these techniques that ultimately saved their lives?
Reply
I'm sure there wouldn't be many that would say they would have rather died than know they are alive today because of water boarding.
Additionally, it's interesting that you have a leftist rant thread and not one con had to come in and make a snide remark about standing in circles.-

Tubed our economy too! But youjust don't see reality, do you? Un-american puke, please move to a real fascist country where you will be at home!

There are some good people in both parties. But they are definitely in the minority.

Slate were you challenging the statement that no detainee was tortured to death? If that was your thing, you really need to do some research. Here's a start, google Manadel Al Jamadi, you'll find thousands of articles about it and probably the most famous picture about torture ever, the female soldier standing over the body of Al Jamadi , smiling and giving the V sign. Of course he was dead then. And by the way Slate, he wasn't the only detainee to be tortured to death that night at Abu Gharib by Navy Seals and Mercenaries.
Anyway that's a good place to start. You can spend the weekend and you will find hundreds of death by torture, disappearance, and died while in custody. All you have to do is look for it. Water boarding won't kill anybody. What killed all these people was everything from Palestinian hanging to beating with base ball bats. But one of the favorites of the torturers was to get the detainees children and torture the children while the detainee was forced to watch.
Really do some research you'll get sick to your stomach. -

That is because you were lied to in public schools. When the US and its allies in WWII captured German spies, they were ROUTINELY tortured and executed. Ditto German treatment of allied spies they captured. Them was the rules.
Reply
And mind you, those spies were most definitely fighting on behalf of a sovereign power, unlike the terrorist detainees in question. So the Gitmo detainees have even LESS standing to expect anything but execution.
Don't you wish you could sue your illiterate public school teachers and their pathetic union for educational malpractice? Maybe you and Jovial can get a class action suit going.

The application of maximum discomfort techniques by the Bush administration:
Reply
1. saved American lives according to Obama's officials,
2. is not torture any more than listening to a Gore speech (read: lie) on global warming, and
3. is not relevant because it involves foreign combatants who where not fighting under a flag or in uniform.
But we once again note how desperate the liberals are to extend every constitutional accommodation to the very people whose sworn goal is to destroy the freedoms provided by that same constitution.-

Actually, the term is "enemy combatants", which extends to alleged domestic terrorists as well.
That means ANY American citizen could be subject to the same treatment.

What hypocrites ,where does a democrat get the moral authority to point fingers a the Bush administration The democrats had two hundred thousand Americans of Japanese decent ushered in to less than livable camps under military guards.Later another democrat dropped, not one but two atomic bombs on populated towns, and villages. While we bring all the photos of Gitmo, lets mix the photos of the aftermath of the two bombs with them, and maybe the newsreels of the prison camps of our Japanese brothers, and sisters.Remembering can be good if done in good taste. One sided arguments is bigotry. Remember all this was done in defence of our people.

lloyd, 14 of 20 most corrupt congressmen are still repug (google the CREW list)! The top earmark spenders are still repug even with Stevens gone!
Reply
Only a repug controlled Congress tried to impeach - twice!
Only Repugs adminstrations have convicted fellons from three different, recent administrations: watergate, Iran Contra & Plamegate. Only repugs consider these convicted fellons as heros!
Only a repug ran to change the constitution: Huckabee to make Christianity the law of the land. Dumya just called the Constitution a "piece of paper"!
Only Dumya and all the repugs indorsed torture, preemptive war, loss of habeas corpus, eavesdroppping on Americans, political assasination by hellfire, a callous disregard for collateral damage, Abu Ghraib/Gitmo, and waterboarding!
Only four right wing supreme court judges voted to throw out 800 years of accepted western law, habeas corpus (scalia who likes torture too, Roberts alito & Thomas).
Only repugs and their sycophant congressmen would let the Katrina debacle happen and the next greatest Depression. The repugs caused the first too!
Only a repug, Bush Justice Department let contractor women be raped indiscriminately in the green zone (over 2 dozen), let Blackwater kill 18 innocents and sought immunity, only handled reverse discrimination cases, fired their own prosecutors for not going after dems with zeal, and refused to back up Congressional subpoenas.
Only repugs fight the Fairness Act and the Truth in telecommunications Act (Reagan vetoed it)!
Only repugs have a news station that outwardly pushes rebellion, bigotry and secession!
Read "Profiles in Courage"... where most of the stories address the few times in history that repugs didn't vote their party line... and the country was better for it!
...and Barack hasn't even been in office a 100 days yet!
How much more corrupt can the repugs be for the past 50 years?

I'm not judging anybody your the one putting your family down prior to ninteen sixty.I personally agreed with FDR,he done what he had to do in the defence of our nation. The same goes for Truman he felt he would save the lives of at least a half million Americans. He was also my commander and chief in the Korean Conflict. So your the one judging our leaders ,not me.Lincoln is my favorite, even though he suspended the Constitution, for the sake of our nation. I'm sure you and all your perfect friends would find fault with any leader who didn't wear panty hose, and an apron
