because they have realized that they were taken in by a clever campaign committee who knew just how to play to their weaknesses.

Change and hope. Change from what to what. Hope - for what, free government handouts.

Perhaps they cheered when Obama appointed himself as president of General Motors, because they would be able to trade in their old cars for free new green cars.
