The brain id the central and commanding organ of the nervous system and the whole body. It consists of two cerebral hemispheres, the cerebellum and the brainstem unites to the spinal cord. All of the bodys data comes in by approprate pathways short and long to the brain and it is in the brain that perception and association of these sensations occures. Some of these pathways consists of nerves springing directly from the brain itself, these nerves are called cranial nerves and there are twelve of them. .

There are so much involving the brain, infection which take their toll of the brain tissue, Alzheimer's and tumors which can take away the memory and the way you proform dailey and controls our emotions, weeping, laughing personality change and as I said all three can cause the loss of memory. Each of these factors can affect the brain in differnt ways which makes me wonder if it would be the right thing to do and take the risk of marijuana it also affects the brain but it relaxes the brain. I would have to say something as your brain, I dont think marijuana would help it, in fact it might make it worse. I dont want anyone to take my advice but this is my answer and my answer only. By the way, Good artical. -

One of the issues ,that has inhibited valid research into medical use cannabis,has been the for/against lobbies.Until recent years,the majority of the argument has been stimulated by the,it's safeish to smoke/it's dangerous to spoke arguments.Now at last that is more or less settled,(it can be dangerous to those with a predisposition to schizophrenia)and some positive research is being done.There does seem to be a number of conditions,glaucoma,multiple sclerosis,pain and now possibly dementia,where cannabis and especially THC have genuine therapeutic properties.It is ironic that it is THC,(the psychoactive element in cannabis),that appears to be of most medicinal use.Lets hope there are even greater therapeutic uses to be found.

Well having suffered serious head injuries, and having my memory being affected more and more as I age. I am beginning to think that I could be a candidate for dementia of Alzheimer's.

Confused is my standing having heard all my life about how it impairs a persons memory and now a study saying it may help???
I will say I have never seen anyone die from an overdose of pot..
Or kill someone on the highway because they were stoned on Pot..-

As far as I am concerned that sorta settles the issue about overdosing.
I dunno about driving around totally fried but in every case I have heard of someone screwing up badly while driving it was always linked to the ingestion of other drugs as well...most commonly alcohol.
Alcohol which is legal and we KNOW impairs driving.
It's all about Greed.
All those TV commercials you see are for drugs that do stuff that more often than not weed will do better...and without the horrible side effects. It's a Con...It's ALWAYS been a Con.
It's about making money off the suffering of others. You don't need a pharmaceutical company if you can grow your prescription in the backyard.

It wouldn't matter if MJ were a boon to mankind as a renewable source of fiber, omega 3s, low acid paper products, and medicines (because it already is)- it will still be illegal because of those in control. The furor against it as almost religious.

Marijuana is not physically addictive and is not a gateway drug. Any person can become addicted to anything, that doesn't mean the item in question is physically addictive to everyone. Some people are addicted to sex, so should sex be outlawed?

Only dopes do dope eh? In my own personal experiences, many very intelligent people use marijuana. Not to brag, by I have a very high IQ and I use it. Ever hear of Carl Sagan? Well he was a brilliant astronomer/mathematician who used marijuana. He solved a particularly difficult mathematical problem only after using pot.
Marijuana also has extremely beneficial medical uses. Can the same be said about alcohol which is legal? Can it be said that alcohol consumption has never killed a person? Well not one person has ever died from consuming to much marijuana. As some one else pointed out, even too much water will kill you.

With out the High, I think the marijuana would be useless. The high is a signal that it is working. Unbeknown to me, in my absence from home. my mother in her nineties was exposed to pot smoke. I came in raising Hades, because of the law risk that it brings. The whole house reeked of it and my unthoughtful hubby was loaded. My mother was up and cleaning, not complaining. She seemed happy but kept telling me, she was smelling something, burning. Her appetite was increased, I had to go buy hot dogs. That's what she asked for. There was a big change in her attitude. The pity me trip was gone for a little while. There is something to Pot being helpful to humans.
