Fox News Poll: Obama's First 100 Days - 62% Approval »
Posted By TimALoftis 8 months, 1 week ago in Political NewsAs Barack Obama closes in on his first 100 days as president, majorities of Americans approve of the job he is doing, are satisfied with what he has accomplished so far and think he is keeping his promises, according to a FOX News poll released Friday.
Obama's job approval rating comes in at 62 percent, down just three points from the 65 percent approval he received after his first week in office but up 4 points since the first of this month ( Fox News last poll).
In addition, most people say Obama is doing a better job than they expected (26 percent) or meeting expectations (56 percent). Few say he is doing worse than expected (16 percent).
The president's approval is nearly identical to the job rating George W. Bush received at the same point in his first term, as 63 percent of Americans approved and 22 percent disapproved (April 18-19, 2001). One noticeable difference is that approval of Obama is much more divided along partisan lines today than Bush's ratings were eight years ago.
There is a wide 68 percentage point gap between the number of Democrats (92 percent) and Republicans (24 percent) who approve of the job Obama is doing. For Bush, there was a 50-point gap in April 2001.

Fox is not all far-right and CNN is not all far-left. Both Greta Van Susteren and Lou Dobbs really do seek to examine all sides of issues and attempt to actually report the facts.

I suggest that trying to simplify either network into soundbites and completely demonize it allows the discussion to quickly turn into a "yo momma" shouting match from extremists on the "right" and "left" and quickly devolves away from reasoned dialog.

Obama has been predictable--he's slowed where he sees resistance, but he's never completely backed off any of his positions. He's as stubborn as Bush was, but just not quite as in-your-face aggressive about them. And he uses more stealth to push his agenda through.

His choice of appointees doesn't suggest a higher standard and he is just as likely to put lobbyists and others he formerly demonized in key positions.
Although key women's organizations threw their support behind him, he's installed Summers and cooled his pro-choice position on a number of issues. He's moved slightly right on issues like stem cell and abortion; it was predictable that the black evangelical church would have an effect on his political behavior. But I think that's part of trying to be all things to all people.
The far left and far right are never happy unless their extremist agenda gains traction, of course, so he will never please them all. Even people with a mix of positions, like myself, are finding we agree or disagree on specific issues.
I think he honestly is trying to do what he thinks is the right thing to change directions on a fast-moving freight train on issues like greenhouse gases, energy, and getting the economy back on track, and he's taken on a huge, untested move to do that by signing off on the latest budget presented to him by congress. In the same breath, that congress sees its window of opportunity to slam through various sub-agendas, which is how people operate. People wait for opportunities and then pounce. The unfortunate thing is that so many things are being changed at once, and most are experimental and unproven, so it's like a huge bet in Vegas to a certain extent.
I don't completely trust Obama because I know he endlessly looks for loopholes to slip in his agenda, but Bush was the same, so we just see a different bias.
I really like Obama and his family. I adore the new puppy! It's really too early to judge much, though.-

The puppy is brought before Judge Memestryker.

He stares down in cold, libertarian objectivity while it pees on the bailif.
"I object your honor!" shouts the puppy's lawyer.
"KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT" shout the neo-con jury.
"Waru-woofl!" barks the puppy.
"How do you spell 'waru-woofl'? screams the court-reporter.
Memestryker raises his gavel and prepares to bring it down on
someone's head.
But whose?
probably not to be continued

no slate. we like you more than fox news. you're not hateful and borderline psycho like billo, and you seem to say what you believe and don't try to hide behind false mottos like fair and balanced (which, on this board, none of us are, even though some of us try)

Overall, I think President Obama is doing well so far. He did well with the Pirate situation. He's doing well w/the Taliban situation in Pakistan. I think President Obama made the right choice when he made it known that he wouldn't mind invading Pakistan, if their government couldn't control the Taliban. Pakistan has a capable military, and if they want to they can control the Taliban on their own. If they can't, they know the consequences.

On domestic news, here in Cali at least mortgage companies who made out bad loans are starting to talk to people they made out bad loans to, instead of threatening to foreclose their homes or businesses.
Also, at least here in Cali, Arnold was paying State officials a lot of money to harrass small businesses on a daily business. These State employees were abusing their power. President Obama asked every Governor to submit their budget. Since then, the State employees have stopped harrassing small businesses as long as the businesses are following procedures.
On stem cell research, it's good that President Obama signed the paper to approve it.
I am not in agreement with every person he has hired to do the job, but I guess he has to play the politics to get things done.
On the economy, I think it's to early to know if his policies & ideas will create as many jobs as he promised. On healthcare, it's also to early to know if he will be able to keep his promises. -

The other fox news polls

38% thought we were headed in the right direction while 54.4% thought the wrong.
Congressional approval 34.3% approve while 59% dissaprove.
So while people like Obama they don't think he is heading us in the right direction and they I guess blame congress. So why if Obama listens he will veto all bills.
