    I think you've pretty accurately established a good starting point for identifying who does and who doesn't think that, except rather than label them "republicans", my preferred term is, or was, "Bush/Cheney dead-enders". Mostly republicans, sure, but hardly all. And a number of them were democrats for that matter, though not by any means the majority. It's a type of person, a personality structure, and party choice doesn't always tell the whole story -- except, of course, for when it does.
