How sad that narrow minds are keeping these young adults from being involved in theatre.

I did a show in high school called "Getting Out" where I had to rape a girl on stage. So rape is fine for youngsters to see but not positive gay relationships. That's sad.

hamy - that was a very serious production you were involved in at such a young age. The theatre is so useful at portraying the positive and negative aspects of humanity... Not just the shows themselves but the societal reactions to them.

"Westboro, classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, is best known for picketing the funerals of American solders that died in war. The group was also publicly noted for its planned protest at the funeral of two young Amish girls. The group claims that these people were intentional killed by God because of the sins of America, most prominently the acceptance of homosexuality."

When the intolerance of hate groups seep into the public schools and a play of this nature is censored, an alarm should go off in all Americans who value freedom.

If we fail to uphold the rights of these students to express themselves peacefully, we are surrendering to the fear of tyranny. In that surrender, we give power to despotism and bigotry.

Well said! I am impressed by the inner strength of these students to continue with the production in the face of such pressure and even more so because they came together in mass to stand up for equality causing the Westboro members to abandon their effors in defeat.

School children beating back the power of hate one theater production at a time!
