Concocted! What is going on?

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Missing vials of a potentially dangerous virus have prompted an Army investigation into the disappearance from a lab in Maryland. Apr. 22 2009

Are there some bigger questions to be asked here?
Thanks Lori for breaking the story.-

About the three vials of virus mysteriously missing from the Maryland lab, your link says, "The vials contained samples of Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis, a virus that sickens horses and can be spread to humans by mosquitoes." (The "concocted" link in the article also confirms this.)
Reply
This is a virus causing encephalitis, unrelated to swine flu nor bird flu, both of which are influenza. Until more evidence comes out linking government labs to the new swine flu epidemic, I'm not buying that this is some sort of army/torture-supporter conspiracy to detract attention from the torture memos. I think it's just an unfortunately timed coincidence. -

This 'news story' is a distraction. The event is now a boring four days old and nothing new is being reported ... lots of conjecture ... but no news meat. Most unfortunate is the fact that all legit news organizations are giving this the national crisis treatment. Folks, there is real news out there and swine flu is ... not.

It may well be that the media are looking for excuses not to talk about torture, especially since it is now clear that the practice/lies/cover-up implicates large numbers of people right up to the White House level (Bush, Cheney, Rice, Hadley, Gonzales,....),

but I don't know about the conspiracy theories. Perhaps there are rogue out-of-control elements in our public service institutions (we have the example of the 9/11 related anthrax attacks), but there may be more mundane sources if this is really a new, introduced flu. Perhaps commercial firms are even more dangerous than the government?
FTA:
Venture capital firm set to reap rewards on swine flu 24 Apr 2009 The swine flu outbreak is likely to benefit one of the most prolific and successful venture capital firms in the United States: Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Thomson Reuters Private Equity Week reported on Friday. Shares of the two public companies in the firm's portfolio of eight Pandemic and Bio Defense companies -- BioCryst Pharmaceuticals and Novavax -- jumped Friday on news that the swine flu killed a reported 60 people in Mexico and has infected people in the United States. The World Health Organization said the [unique] virus appears to be susceptible to Roche's flu drug Tamiflu, also known as oseltamivir, but not to older flu drugs such as amantadine.

Sounds like the cops here in California...if they get caught at one thing...suddenly they are caught in a progression that ends with the first incident a bit diminished. Theyt know we are what we see hear feel, etc. and they use this against us.

No one KNOWS who did it. We may never know, just like the anthrax cases. It just seems a little strange that during the anthrax case it was believed to be a government strain, but the DNA evidence was destroyed before the evidence could be reviewed. I don't know if the "swing flu" outbreak is part of a plan of distraction or not... but, I would not really be surprised given what we already know about the lengths "our" government has gone to recently.

The GOP in particular would really LOVE to get people to stop talking about TORTURE. Don't let them get away with it!
With very rare exceptions, members of the Republican party continue to try to justify the kidnapping AND TORTURE of prisoners during the Bush administration. Republicans are, of course, the party that claims to have such wonderful Christian "family values" and cares so much about America.
However, it really HURTS America to have acted this way, and then to try to deny the facts! And, the International Red Cross has already said that the U.S. DID IN FACT TORTURE PEOPLE. Source: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/03/16/terror/m... (Lots of other sources are available online... but, you have to look for this information... mostly it's been ignored or even covered up by U.S. "news" outlets that are supposedly left-leaning.)
Remember: That's the GOP... the party of Christian values and TORTURE... plus lies to try to justify and/or cover up the TORTURE.

It wouldn't be the first time our conservative loyalists within our intelligence services have changed the subject, especially now since the release of the torture memos.

How convenient has the "pirate story" and now "swine flu" been to distract from the previous band of criminals who left office January 2009. -

The flu may just be a fluke. We know that in Mexico where the flu started that there is quite a bit of livestock living in close proximity with human beings. It could have been that this deadly mix of animal/human flu mutated. The only thing I'm not certain of is how so many different strains at once e got mixed up into this deadly concoction and the became able to spread between humans. I wonder if this flu get's birds and pigs sick as well. Or has it just mutated to be able to infect humans.

More info is coming to light now. It's come to my attention that the CDC upgraded the pandemic alert to 4. At the time I posted this story it was only 3. Now i want to tell a tale of a company called Smithfield. Smithfield is in the center of this outbreak. In order to follow along you have to visit this link first.

So you follow me so far? The manure from these animals is extremely toxic. Well Lo and Behold Smithfield partners 50/50 with a farm run by Granjas Carroll in Mexico at the epicenter of this outbreak. Here's the latest AP news release.

I could believe that the flu coverage is being increased under pressure from certain entities who would rather other things went undiscussed, but it's really not serious enough to merit the amount of coverage it's getting, so the chance that the virus itself was engineered to distract attention is slim.

Donald Rumsfeld absolutely and unequivocably denied the authorization of torture for detainees at Guantanamo in 2006. Three years later and the former Vice President has said "Yes, we did authorize torture."

Maybe the media has finally realized Bush is no longer in office. There are actually events happening they can't blame on Bush. Since Obama took office the debt in growing faster than ever even though his party is in charge of the Senate and the House. He's not bringing soldiers home from Iraq, he's going to send them to Iran and Afghanistan. He is showing he is out of control and isn't qualified for the job. This isn't a party problem, I hope more people aren't killed and they will have a country to come home too. Things are not looking very good right now. Soon the media will start writing articles about how Obama increased the national debt by trillions of dollars in less than 100days, about the ridiculous budget he wants and will have to raise everybodies taxes to do it. How he will raise taxes to meet the promises he made to get elected. But then he has already backed off on his promises. He said in his last press conference that "we won't be able to do some of what I wanted, at least not yet." Just wait and see if it ever happens. By the way... those that fell for the health care that congress has. You could have already had it, you can get it now. All you have to do is pay for it. I hope you listened, he never said it would be free or cheap! Obama is finding out what it's like to be used. The media used him as their golden child to bash Bush. I don't think Obama realized they do this to most 2nd term presidents. They bashed Clinton also. If he's smart he will get congress to make a special position and bring Bill Clinton in as an advisor, if he doesn't get somebody to help, our country is in dire straights. Get ready for this country to be worse off than it's ever been.

Was it because he wanted to change the subject from the flu to something else?
Or is he a complete incompetent dufhs? -

Now is the time for all good men (and women) to…contact your republican senator.
Reply
I watch the GOP’ers avoid, duck, skirt-around answering questions regarding torture. Here are 4 questions Americans can answer with a simple “yes” or “no”.
1) Do you oppose torture? Yes No
2) Is waterboarding torture? Yes No
3) Is torture a breech of national and international law? Yes No
4) Do you believe those who approve of torture should be prosecuted? Yes No
Questions about the effectiveness of torture (or situational scenarios) are red herrings as they are a weak defense for supporting torture. If your senator cannot answer with a “yes” or “no”. Then they are giving a John McCain, or Newt Gingrich answer, which is gibberish. It is time for Senators to speak up. The questions were asked in the affirmative so the Party of No can have some practice saying “Yes”.
BTW, I am curious if our republican friends to post on FR would like to answer the above 4 questions.
