this is not a referendum on Bush or Obama, this is about having a voice in the government as a whole.

every election cycle the media talks about 'swing voters'.. you know who that is, all of us who have not sworn unyielding allegiance to one party or another and are stuck choosing between the lesser of two evils.
no more.
those of us classified as 'moderates' or 'independents' agree on far more than we disagree on. we are the voice of this nation. rather than allowing ourselves to be led about by those who would tell us how things must be... it is time we told them how things will be.
let us join together in partisan effort to determine our the future of our nation. -

It actually was fairly successful - from a purely managerial perspective.
The problem with most of the cynicism towards our political parties is the Elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about ....
Military Spending.
We spend almost EXACTLY what the rest of the world spends on the Military ... of course ... most of that goes down a black hole .... never to be seen again.
Even if we cut military spending in HALF .... we would still be ... BY FAR .... the world's most spendingest nation on the Military.
And if you think we ABSOLUTELY NEED all this spending to be safe .... what has this outsized spending achieved for us?
- Vietnam ... BILLIONS spent to achieve nothing.
- Iraq 2 ... BILLIONS spent to 'Nation Build' - spent ... on a whim.
In fact, it's estimate that $12 BILLION was 'lost' and 'unaccounted for'.

Like I always say ... if you are SERIOUS about cutting your taxes .... DEMAND that our nation stop pouring our treasury into the Vast Military Industrial Complex .... as described to us by Dwight D. Eisenhower.

I would like to see "ellis Island' type stations built at the border where those who wish to immigrate legally can come.

we should then use UAVs and Mobile Border Patrol Units (Think MASH) to patrol the border more effectively.
legal immigration is fine.

We believe in secure US boarders. Illeagal imigration is just that...illeagal. Although there is room for imigration reform, ignoring the current laws is NOT reform.

I believe there must be a national standard set. Enforcement must be carried out at state level. There are many border states who will have a larger role in this process,but must be supported by other states and national funding. -

The number one problem now is Mexico. I understand many wanting to come here for a better life, but disreguarding OUR imigration laws is not a good start for a new life.

I also disagree that WE are the problem in Mexico. The Mexican government has a land with beutiful coast lines and trade agreements with the US and Canada. There must be a way to build a middle class in Mexico. We should work together with their government in doing this,BUT we MUST 1st look out for OUR leagal citizens of the US and their well being first. -

gmlspends- If OUR founding fathers thought like you we would still be under British rule. As long as NO one steps forward, one thing is sure, NOTHING will change.I am sure we have a long hard fight before us. If we do not fight though, what will be OUR excuse to OUR children? The odds were against us so we just gave in?

We do not need to over run DC in a few months. What we DO need to do is to take awy both sides majority in congress and remove the dinos and corrupt members on BOTH sides.
This is OUR nation and OUR future. I for one, choose to be a player and not someone looking on from the side lines. -

I strongly believe we need a new political party. I think the party should simply be called the Moderate Party. It's name and its ideals should encourage Democrats and Republicans who are continually dissed by their own party for standing up for what they and their constituency believe. It should allow (even encourage)different viewpoints and promote public discussion of the key issues facing us today.

Neither Republicans nor Democrats have an answer to the economic crisis we face today - both in the short term and the long term impact of the huge deficits we are running.
Neither Repbulicans nor Democrats have a viable answer for the enormous problems we have in our health care system.
Neither Republicans nor Democrats have a practical answer for the illegal imigration problem.
...and of course there are more, including the poltical payoffs and earmarks that have become a part of our two-party political system no matter which party is in office.
It is time for a new political party in the United States.
