CNN can't get around this one. This woman deliberately sought out people, twisted facts to slant this into something evil, mean, hateful, and wrong. In reality there were many, many democrats and republicans, conservatives and liberals that are concerned our government is taxing us to much, growing too fast and taking away or rights and freedoms behind our backs. The constitution gives us a right to assemble and protest our government because THEY WORK FOR US, WE DON'T WORK FOR THEM.

Conservatives and Republicans have nothing left at this point except lies, name-calling and ugly, violence-tinged attacks. The fake “tea parties” promoted by the right-wing smear Faux “news” network were based on the ridiculous idea that the GOP isn’t a big-spending party.

CNN was so proud of their reporter that she took a leave of absence that CNN claims is a "planned vacation."
Reply
Other news organizations commented on her behavior:
The Augusta Chronicle editorial page: "one of the most unprofessional acts of 'journalism' we've ever seen."
Mona Charen of the National Review described her actions in the interview as "downright confrontational."
National Review contributor Mark Hemingway: "I have never seen a reporter enter the fray and act personally offended by the many, many examples of outrageous behavior at a protest. There's little to be gained by it, and it's simply not professional."
Boston Herald columnist Michael Graham: Roesgen "lashed out at the participants like an angry MoveOn.org member."

I love the ABC, CNN, NBC, and the rest of the liberal media. I attended the rally in Madison. During all of their slanted reporting, none mentioned that the speakers were not only different ages but also different races.

Then again, we're the conservatives and we are taking about the typical media. They're no longer news reporters, they're little more than entertainers. I look at them like under performing Jay Lenos. Think about it. He sends people out to ask the people simple questions. They ask questions like who is the president, VP and Secretary of State. When they get the wrong answer, you get to be on TV. Get it right, you end up on the file room floor.
We no longer have real reporters. Unless the press changes and gets back to reporting the news and not creating the news, the press is dead in this nation. Until the Dan Rather wannabees are driven out, they will continue to lose market share and talk radio will grow.-

BB64, right there are no reporters or journalists with the main stream media but I hesitate to call them entertainers. Aren't entertainers supposed to entertain, mostly they're dull and boring and anyone with half a brain and can predict what they are going to say in any situation. The three major broadcast networks - ABC, CBS, and NBC - have had decidedly right of center coverage of the news for quite some time now. Ever since President Clinton signed the Telecommunications Act of 1996 (allowing single corporations to swallow up multitudes of stations in every market and several networks), the rightward shift was dramatic (It is debatable that the media was really balanced or even liberal before then but - IMO - CNN was doing a better job showing a balance then than they are now). And jeez, Headline News was actually {gasp!} headline news! I can remember when MSNBC first signed on, they were very much on the right, featuring the likes of Ann Coulter and Laura Ingraham (and it seemed to me that they were the Clinton impeachment channel in those days, but they probably shared that honor with the also new FOX News).
Reply
The "liberal media" may exist, but it is very tiny. In radio, yes, there is Air America on the radio and internet, but also several syndicated shows which have even larger audiences than AA, including Thom Hartmann, Mike Malloy, and Ed Schultz. Rachel Maddow still has an Air America slot, but has a larger audience on MSNBC. And Randi Rhodes just signed a new deal with Premier to relaunch her show on May 11th. But altogether- and this is important - the progressive talk audience totals less than 10% of all broadcast talk radio - an already small portion of the total radio audience - so to say it has had much of an impact is really a stretch. Still, the market exists for progressive talk and a large portion of the country is not served at all by this format. Prior to 1996 (and even after the Fairness Doctrine was finally dismantled by the Reagan FCC in 1987), it was not uncommon to hear a liberal talker net to a conservative on the same station. But soon after Clinton signed that bill, both cable talk television and talk radio took on a decidedly rightward shift with the revelation of the Lewinsky scandal (and one could argue that the press had it in for him from the beginning, but the shift on talk radio and Television was noticeable). MSNBC is decidedly liberal in their coverage, but - as I mentioned earlier - it didn't used to be that way. That shift started happening in 2006, when Tucker Carlson and Rita Cosby were dropped and Kieth Olbermann and Chris Matthews -who, at the time, was still kissing right wing butt on Hardball - were brought into the nightly prime time line-up. Matthews has since moved to the left (I call it an evolution) and he and Olbermann were joined last year by Rachel Maddow.

Bottom line is: we have a CORPORATE media. A media the worships the dollar and that will go where the ratings take them. For better or worse, thanks to Presidents Clinton and Reagan, that's what we have. "In the public interest" is not as a phrase you hear in newsrooms today, save - maybe non-commercial outlets like NPR or PBS.
"The fourth estate" - as the media used to be known prior the erosion of regulations with the elimination of the Fairness Doctrine and the Telecommunications Act of '96 because it was an unofficial check on the other three branches of government - is virtually non-existent today. And that is very troubling.....

Okay ... I realize y'all live in a parallel universe ... let me give you a 'for instance'.
How would you react if NBC organized nationwide protests AGAINST George W. Bush's plan to go to war with Iraq?
You'd be LIVID.
Not only because it would be a threat to the Rights LOVE for invading other nations, nation building ... and spending VAST amounts of money ... but because MEDIA would be organizing against GOVERNMENT.
This is akin to a low grade PUTSCH by FOX.
Or ... at least ... that's what y'all would have called it if the above NBC scenario would have been played out.
LOL ....
Y'all are just so loony ... so loony .... I mean ... beyond words loony.
You're like the clutch of people that the 911 'TRUTHERS' shy away from because their just too freaky.

And I didn't even MENTION the fact that Arch-Conservative Media Mogul ... Julian Sinclair ... who owns more independent TV outlets than anyone ... ORDERED every one of those outlets to run the Swift-Boat ads ... IN THEIR ENTIRETY .... one week before the 2000 election.
NAZI-ism .... indeed.
Y'all DREAM of a NAZI-style regime ... with forced Propaganda ... ala-Fox and SBC ... and Rush Limbaugh ... Sean Hannity ... Bill O'Reilly ... and on ... and on ... and on ...

Are we to believe that the tea parties were events that sprung up simultaneously with no help from FOX News? Given the way the events of that day unfolded, that really seems unlikely.
The whole notion that there is a liberal media push to subvert the tax party message is without merit. The truth is that these events were heavily promoted by FOX News to create this faux populist anger over taxes which most of the average people will never realize in their own lives. The vast majority of us - those of us making under 250,000 (and yes, that also includes the majority of us who make more than 30,000 but less than 250,000) are receiving a tax cut, but NONE of that gets through...instead, they manipulate people who are uneducated in the complexities of the issues and emotions over the war on terror in hopes of organizing the Republican Party around those cells of anger. These economic conservatives are using mouthpieces like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Glen Beck to stir up the stupid among us because THEY REALLY HAVE NO PLAN, OTHER THAN MORE TAX CUTS.-

I don't beleive that Fox news is behind all the tea Parties. Even if they were behind them, what's so bad about that anyway? BIG DEAL, real Americans are coming out and protesting against tax hikes and big government spending. AGAIN, what the big deal here, what's so wrong with Americans showing the Government that they disapprove of their spending and taxing us to death? Please explain why the tea parties are such a horrible thing. AND NO, the tea parties are not about racism, that's just plain dumb to say that they are about racism.
BTW, there is news coming out that Obama's promise to not to raise taxes on 95% of Americans, is being scraped. He is planning to tax us all more then ever. -

On the local news tonight guess what they're talking about? Iraq? Afghanastan? Problems returning servicemen/women have transitioning back into civilan life? Job that's guaranteed theirs if they're called up...is it still? Mortgage crisis? Homelessness? The torture memos? Or how about more importantly the importance of Coleman dragging the appeals process out, going back on his word? Or Michelle's latest outlandish comments? Better yet a report from last Friday's St. Cloud Stand Down? Nope.

Nope wrong. No they're talking about if in a marriage is it okay for a husband to have female friends and a wife to have male friends. That's what they're talking about. Up to this time, law required the East India Company to sell its tea through middlemen in England. Duties were levied both when the tea passed through English ports and when it arrived in a colonial port. In May 1773, Parliament adopted legislation allowing East India Company to ship its tea directly to the colonies, avoiding middlemen and the payment of duties in England. Even with the import duty at colonial ports, the company could sell its tea at a price below that of tea smuggled in from Holland. The East India Company would have a virtual monopoly on the tea in the colonies.
Despite the lower price of British tea, the American colonists refused to buy it. They were infuriated that Parliament would grant a monopoly to the East India Company and insulted that Parliament would expect them to compromise on the principle for the sake of their pockebooks. In Charleston, the tea had to be protected by customs officials in government warehouses. In New York and Philadelphia, the tea-laden ships were ordered to turn around and return to England. But in Boston, Governor Hutchinson refused a citizen request to ship the tea back to England. Thus, on the night of December 16, 1773, a band of citizens disguised as Indians boarded the tea-laden ships in the Boston Harbor and, under the cover of darkness, dumped 340 chests of tea into the harbor. Although the men were careful to harm nothing but the tea itself, the Boston Tea Party, as it was called, outraged the British authorities.
In response to the Boston Tea Party, Parliament decided to punish Massachussetts and, by doing so, to set an example that would keep the other colonies in subjection. In 1774, Parliament passed a series of acts it called the Coercive Acts: the colonists called them the "Intolerable Acts." The first of these acts, the Boston Port Bill, closed the port of Boston until the East India Company could be reimbursed for the destroyed tea.
There were three more "Acts"... the Administration of Justice Act, The Massachusetts Government Act, and the Quartering Act. Research them yourself.
By the way, Fox News did NOT create the 'Tea Parties', a man in, I believe, Connecticut, started it. Not sure about the state. Fox News DID promote it, GLADLY. -

Why would CNN try to stop the video? Their reporter was correct. Faux news made a pitiful attempt to make the so called 'tea party' bi-partisan, while 99% of the time the commentators bashed liberals, CNN, Obama, Democrats. I know. I watched.
