I guess you're not a doctor like your namesake. Closing the border with Mexico would do nothing to prevent the spread of disease. Travelers might go somewhere else first, then into the U.S., and goods shipped here from Mexico can carry viruses.

Besides, the flu has already entered the U.S. Your suggestion is like closing the barn door after the horses have fled.
DHS Secretary Napolitano is distributing Tamiflu throughout the country, however, which is a better and faster response to this kind of threat than we saw under the last administration.

Well, the rotting elephant carcass of the Republican party has a much, much bigger problem than the flu... it's called TORTURE!
Reply
The GOP would really LOVE to get people to stop talking about TORTURE and switch to the flu or whatever. Please don't let them get away with it!
With very rare exceptions, members of the Republican party continue to try to justify the kidnapping AND TORTURE of prisoners during the Bush administration. Republicans are, of course, the party that claims to have such wonderful Christian "family values" and cares so much about America.
However, it really HURTS America to have acted this way, and then to try to deny the facts! And, the International Red Cross has already said that the U.S. DID IN FACT TORTURE PEOPLE. Source: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/03/16/terror/m... (Lots of other sources are available online... but, you have to look for this information... mostly it's been ignored or even covered up by U.S. "news" outlets that are supposedly left-leaning.)
Remember: That's the GOP... the party of Christian values and TORTURE... plus lies to try to justify and/or cover up the TORTURE.

The current problem is with human-to human transmission of the virus, not form transmission from pigs to humans.
Reply
Why the focus on illegals? How about transmission of the virus via American tourists returning to the U.S.(as is the case with the children from New YorK)?

What the hell is President Obama doing? Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napilotano is making a comment on this? Is this an attack from Mexico? Is this a spy attack from North Korea? AlQueda? PLO? This is the job of HHS or the Surgeon General. He's flying all over playing candidate still while many of his key cabinet members have never been assigned. When does the Senate or House step in and lay down the law? If President Obama isn't capable of doing his job, when does the VP step forward? I don't like him any better but I am very confused at what he's actually been doing. I mean out side of insulting the Brits or kissing up to the Muslims.
