Any other bill, any other argument, any other time of year would be sensible for the GOP to challenge President Obama. That said, we are in an outbreak if not a pandemic of the Swine Flu. This is not just a Kansas or California problem; it is a global problem that concerns all Americans. The rapid spread of the illness impacts multiple cabinet departments, among which is HHS. This filibuster against Kathleen Sebelius is bad planning on the part of the GOP. They lack any sort of leadership and are relying on Billo the Clown and Boss Limbaugh to guide them.

President Obama has got to get Sebelius in place to deal with the crisis. Meanwhile, maybe Congress could approve of the Surgeon General and the head of the CDC? Maybe the GOP could stop whining, and start serving their constituents? -

So, there's swine flu, why would or should that change our governmental processes to appoint a cabinet member. It's not like Sebelius has any expertise that would change the situation. Her expertise and experience in the medical field is taking money and covering up for the partial birth abortion doctor she's such a big buddy with in Kansas. Btw, she lied about how much money she had taken from him, another flawed Obama appointee, don't cha know. Actually, her name does sound like a virus.

Its interesting to see that you are concerned, these days, about possible lying on the part of politicians.
Reply
I'm just wondering why you were not concerned about that for the past 8 years, given how many times Bush and Cheney lied to the American people about reasons to invade Iran, about torture, and about warrantless wiretapping.
Oh, I remember - its only Democrats that lie, right? No Republican or supporters of Republicans would ever lie, right????
Hypocrite ....

The Republicans seem have nothing left but lies, name-calling, excuses and the word, "No".

THE GOP IS THE PARTY THAT CLAIMS TO HAVE CHRISTIAN "FAMILY VALUES," but promoted the TORTURE OF PRISONERS, in violation of international law, according to THE INTERNATIONAL RED CROSS.
There are many sources for that fact. Here’s one:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/03/16/terror/m...
And still, they try to deny that it happened or otherwise “cover” for it.
(The GOP is also the party of sex offenders Larry Craig and Mark Foley, graft expert Ted “free house” Stevens, convicted dirty trickster and burglar G. Gordon Liddy, lobbyist and GOP bribery expert Jack Abramoff, etc., etc.)
REPUBLICANS: THE PARTY OF FAMILY VALUES, BANKER BAILOUTS, CONVICTED FELONS, COVER-UPS AND TORTURE!

you folks calling to ignore the fillibuster sure sound a lot like the neocons.
Reply
in fact, if you replace the words "republicans" with "democrats" "nomination" with "war funds" and "war on terror" with "swine flu," then you will see that you look just as stupid as when the GOP was calling foul for the Democrats threatening to vote down funding the war.-

supposing the gop filibuster was a game of chicken that could cause us to drive this country to drive off a swine flu cliff.

wouldn't the responsibility lay equally with obama to pick somebody else?
i mean, chicken is chicken.
the "shut up, and get in line" neocon attitude around here stinks.-

I recall a certain republican controlled congress that attempted to defund the CDC because of their criticism of big tobacco. Happily, not all republicans were willing to go along with that one.
