Comments for Former Army Interrogator Offers To Waterboard Sean Hannity! »
Posted By jovial 7 months, 3 weeks ago in NewsSean Hannity recently trivialized waterboarding on one of his recvent shows. He agreed to be waterboarded himself for charity. Now he seems to be backing up from that position, even though Olbermann has offered a thousand dollars to military charities for every second he lasts. He also offered a bonus of thirty thousand dollars if Hannity, after being waterboarded, admits that it was torture. Hannity so far has backed off his earlier statement. See the video.

imagine the money that could raise... a 1 hour pay per view...
and since it's not torture.. give them an incentive.. the one that lasts the longest gets a million dollars extra for his favorite charity..... that could raise more money than Jerry Lewis has in all of his years...-

I wouldn't want to watch it, but Sean did open his big mouth about it on national TV, and did say he would donate monies to charities. Is he going to go thru with it, or avoid ever talking about it again?
Reply
Well, Sean, put up or shut up...but if you don't go thru with it, you'll be letting down a lot of people, those against you, and those for you.
Like Olbermann said...show us you're a man of your word, or at least a man.-

Christopher Hitchens "bugs" my root.
Reply
But I have to give him credit, He put his mouth where the money is.... and did it.
His opinion made an about face.
Unfortunately, all it will do is change the focus of the debate.
It is going to move to "It was worth it".
There will be a challenge to produce documents put forth by the former vice president.
Somehow the blame will shift to the current administration for failing to provide them.
"Like that nasty little pamphlet in your Daddy's bottom drawer"
"Poodle Bites...Poodle chews it...."
If such documents exist, I am sure that our former vice president is intimately knowledgeable about them.
There is a track record of leaks for political gain, yet it seems the underwear is still dry. -

Whether or not Hannity has the cahones to put up or shut up remains to be seen. However... to support his pledge to raise money for military and military family charities, we have erected a new website - http://www.waterboardseanhannity.com - to collect pledges from people who would like to see him put his money where is big mouth is.
Reply
You can come to the site, make a pledge of any amount of a penny or more (or a flat amount) to be donated to military charities, should the Manatee decide to man up and keep his word.
We intend to keep the pressure up, and we'd like your help to do so! Please spread our link and get the message out that we are going to hold Hannity accountable for his comments!

Snowe calls Specter move 'devastating'
Reply
Sen. Olympia Snowe said the Republican Party never learned its lesson from the 'painful' party switch of Sen. Jim Jeffords in 2001.
WASHINGTON (CNN) – Sen. Olympia Snowe — one of the three moderate Republicans including Arlen Specter who supported President Obama's stimulus package — told CNN Tuesday that she has also been approached many times about becoming a Democrat, but that it hasn't happened for a while.
"I've been asked, but not recently," she said.
Snowe said the Republican Party never learned its lesson from the "painful" party switch of Sen. Jim Jeffords in 2001.
"For me personally and then for the party, its devastating," Snowe said of Specter's move. "I've always been concerned about the Republican party nationally, about their exclusionary policies towards moderate Republicans. That's not a secretly held view on my part."

THE GOP IS THE PARTY THAT CLAIMS TO HAVE CHRISTIAN "FAMILY VALUES," but promoted the TORTURE OF PRISONERS, in violation of international law, according to THE INTERNATIONAL RED CROSS.
Reply
There are many sources for that fact. Here’s one:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/03/16/terror/m...
And still, they try to deny that it happened or otherwise “cover” for it.
(The GOP is also the party of sex offenders Larry Craig and Mark Foley, graft expert Ted Stevens, convicted dirty trickster and burglar G. Gordon Liddy, lobbyist and GOP bribery expert Jack Abramoff, etc., etc.)
REPUBLICANS: THE PARTY OF FAMILY VALUES, BANKER BAILOUTS, CONVICTED FELONS, COVER-UPS AND TORTURE!

This is fantastic! If he doesn't go through with it, he's a hypocrite. If does go through with it, it will be Youtubed and Hannity will be permanently humiliated. After we hear his screams on the internet, he will have to pretend it wasn't that bad. This guy is really dumb. Oh Hannity! You've really done it this time! Its going to be a long time before you get the taste of foot out of your mouth.

Christopher Hitchens of Vanity Fair already did this.

Maybe Hannity saw this and chickened out.

I don't think this would have not been used as a means of torture if it was "not that bad of a procedure". I don't know exactly where this act was dubbed "torture", but from the video, it seems rightfully so. Hannity, common, you're man enough to try it if some dude from Vanity Fair did. Step up.-

There was a Fox reporter who was waterboarded as well. Thing is, with these demonstrations, they can 'tap out' at any time and they know it's all just a demonstration and that no-one really means to do them harm or allow them to die. A detainee has no such luxury.
Reply
Also, everyone is focusing on the waterboarding. What about up to 11 days of sleep deprivation? What about hours of stress positions or being sealed in a coffin?

Mister super patriot Hannity will of course allow himself to be waterboarded to show America that waterboarding is just a walk in the park. I mean Hannity is such a brave, courageous person and he'd never go back on his word, would he? lmao.

its not just the act. its all the circumstances surrounding it. knowing its a simulation, as opposed to being totally confused and scared, is a BIG difference.

so, someone should REALLY torture Hannity. snatch him from his house in the middle of the night with a burlap sack over his head. make him think he's been taken by some left-wing paramilitary group like AmeriCorps (thats a joke cons). let him think he's being driven for hours to a secret location. then have masked gunmen smack him around a bit then waterboard him.
just think how embarrassed hannity will be after he finds out he's been punk'd. he'll have helluva time explaining why he crapped his pants.
then we'll see what hannity the doosh thinks about waterboarding. -

Hannity should be placed in a small room full of ankle deep diarrhea dripping from the bleeding cyst of Oxy Limpballs, and then waterboarded with copious urine which I will be glad to provide.

Of course, everyone realized he has his head so far up the rectum of Roger Ailes and Murdock, that he thinks flatulence is fresh air. -

So far, ONLY ONE TV NETWORK (to my knowledge) has clearly and publicly denounced torture. (It's MSNBC.)
Reply
ALL OF THE OTHERS, as far as I can tell, have been acting and continue to act as TORTURE APOLOGISTS, at best remaining silent or even allowing people like Dick Cheney to try to justify and/or deny the fact that the United States DID TORTURE PRISONERS. That is not just according to me... it's according to The International Red Cross.
Here's one online source for that info... there are many more: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/03/16/terror/m ...
Please do three things:
1. Contact any three news organizations that have failed to denounce torture and tell them that their editorial silence on torture is immoral and unacceptable.
2. Search the recent postings on Digg that contain the word "torture" and vote them up (as long as they're not trying to deny the facts or justify the use of torture.)
3. Spread this message.
Many Americans don't buy the explanation that torture is okay if it gets valuable information, believing instead the torture is simply WRONG. Torture also gets prisoners to say what they think you want to hear... NOT to necessarily tell you the truth. -

The Democrat party of WWII is the Republican party of today. There was an ideological switch after the civil rights act of the 1960's. A mass defection from the Democrat party as more blacks joined in the 1960's. So it's still the Republicans, just with a different face.

Many regard the use of the a-bomb on Japan as a blot on US history, similar to the bombing of Dresden. There are many questions:
Reply
Did the armament factories in Hiroshima really qualify it as a 'military target'? What about the already heavily-damaged ship yards in Nagasaki? Why was ground zero at Nagasaki far closer to the residential area of the city rather than the ship yards? Why use two bombs? Wouldn't one have been sufficiently horrifying?
There is little doubt the use of these terrible weapons hastened Japan's surrender and saved countless American lives, but was the death of over 200,000 mostly civilian Japanese men, women and children worth it?

the problem with Hannity being waterboarded is that even if he "makes it through" he knows, that no matter what, they're not going to kill him. This gives him an internal resolve that can help people resist or deny it's torturous effects. If Hannity ACTUALLY thought that the people who did it were going to kill him or might kill him, that emotional piece could put it over the edge..and then he would become like anyone else...he'd say anything just to stay alive and make crap up if he had to get them to stop...

How about a weekly reality show? One million to each victim and another million, each week, to the "military families". For a million bucks, I'm sure you could come up with people wiling to survive even torture. Then we could have a survivors hall of fame and they could wear a "I survived Torture" t-shirt on their visits to malls. (I'm not sure survivors of real torture, like John McCain, would be happy with it, but with a million bucks a week for "military families", they might be willing to suffer in silence).

Just getting a wet towel stuffed down your throat is enough of a torture. In the original method, where your head was submerged in the water, you had a few minutes where you could hold your breath, before the panic for air set in. In the new method, you are already choking before they pour more water down. It is a horror!
Reply
Sean, just contribute a couple of month's salary to "military families" and challenge a couple of your friends, and all your critics to match your generosity. Now, that might be a positive outcome! -

The most important point is not that Hannity was clearly lying when he said he would be waterboarded, but that he treats the issue of torture by Americans as something to be joked about and downplayed, excused, etc.
Reply
The International Red Cross takes a very different attitude toward the torture that was committed under the Bush administration's program. (They are AGAINST torture.)
In the past few weeks, a campaign has begun to shame some of the advertisers that support those on Faux "News" who are either in favor of torture or try to excuse it, deny it, etc.
Two of those advertisers, verified in late April 2009, are Sargento (the cheese-making company)and Dish Network. (It is much more effective to target just a couple companies for now.)
Here are some contacts people can write to and/or call:
Sargento
Email: barbara.gannon@sargento.com
Phone: 1-920-892-3530
Dish Network
...can be emailed from this page:
http://www.dishnetwork.com/customerService/contact...
Phone: 1-888-825-2557
You might want to just ask them why they use their ad dollars to support Fox's TORTURE-APOLOGISTS campaign!
Another good effort involves calling your LOCAL Faux affiliate to complain about the right-wing propaganda put out by its network/parent company. One number is for the Fox-owned station in Wash., DC, WTTG: 202-895-3000.
--------------------------------------------------...
Most importantly, please spread the
word about these efforts.
