It was corruption, high taxes and a lazy population living on the social programs provided by the spoils of those who worked. Freedoms were restricted and you could face death if you insulted the emperor. Sounds a whole lot like today. But you guys don't have an emperor you have a messiah.

Um...Cheney is the one who arrested people for asking him questions about the war.

And Bush jailed people who asked why their children had to die.
At least Obama isn't asking for people to give their lives for him. Human sacrifices to Bush.-

Hold on skippy, please show the arrest reports you claim to exist. That's like the noise Cindy Sheehan made concerning a visit with the President. Cindy and the entire left-wing press group forgot to mention that she had already met President Bush in the White House. All of the protests and sitting in front of his home was a huge PR move that really didn't help anyone. Other than the news for selling ad space and the terrorist's morale.

As to giving up your life for the messiah, we'll see how well you like your government run death care. I mean HMO. Just think the same level of quality care you get at the DMV will be your from the Obama health plan. The only way to reduce costs is restrict service. Get used to long lines and refusals. That's how it works in the UK and Canada. Wait until you find you been bypass surgery and they tell you to go home and wait a few months for your turn. We'll see how well you like government HMO's. Assuming you will live through it.-

That's the one on Cheney. You know the one on Bush.
Every parent, regardless of their motivation, who lost a child in Iraq deserves to stand face to face with Bush and ask him why their child had to die. I don't think that's wrong. Apparently you are more willing to give up your children than the average parent.
