Posted By hanok 7 months ago in ReligionThe phrase " Ten Lost Tribes of Israel" refers to the ancient Northern Kingdom of Israel (composed of the tribes of Reuben, Simeon, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Ephraim, and Manasseh) . This ancient Israelite Kingdom disappeared from the texts of the Hebrew Scriptures after its people were scattered, conquered, and deported by the Assyrian Empire between 740 and 722 BCE. Many groups of Jews (largely descending from the ancient Southern Kingdom of Judah) have doctrines concerning the continued hidden existence and/or future return of the lost ten tribes. This is a subject that is partially based upon documented archaeological and historical fact, partially upon written religious tradition, and partially upon a myriad of speculation.
