There is only one way for an alcoholic to stop drinking..DON'T PICK UP THAT FIST DRINK !!
The are several treatment methods, but the most successful is AA.Like it or not that is the way it is.
Look ,if you are really an alcoholic and not a problem drinker (and there is a huge difference in the two) total abstinence from alcohol is the only way to approach it,no controlling it,no drink limits,no BS,just abstinence.

My Pop owes his life to AA. He got his 28 year token at his last "birthday". I have attended almost all of his birthday meetings and have been inspired by the support that he gets. The support is the key.

I am glad that you have received this type of support through AA, 59. I think it is a first class operation and a great place to see the good that resides in people from all walks of life.

Side note: I have made friends with many of the friends that he has made through AA. I even took a few golf trips with them. I have never had more laughs on a golf trip than the ones that I have taken with them. I have also never drank as much coffee in a week than with those coffee fiends.
