Proselytizing is trying to talk talking someone into changing their beliefs. In the Quran the Torah, Psalms, and Gospels are called the word of God. Some Muslims believe that it means the whole Bible. So what is being handed out is, according to the Quran, Gods word. Where is the problem?

is this what religion and conservatism have come to? disingenuously parsing plain concepts like "proselytizing" and "torture"? until you guys decide to be more honest and up-front about reality, you are going to spend a long time in the wilderness

Christians are mandated by Scripture to share and spread the Gospel. To not do so is to disobey God.

All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." - Matthew 28:18-20

I think that is pretty "up-front", and no apologies either :)

even when spreading the gospel is illegal in a country? go ahead and fly over to afghanistan and preach the word. see how long you last.

oh yea, good point. kinda like all the christian politicians in this country fighting global warming because they ultimately want to immanentize the eschaton so they can all get to heaven quicker and hang out with joseph smith and his 70,000 spirit wives

p.s., the reference to "joseph smith and his 70,000 spirit wives" was a reference to mormonism, which i understand you to not believe to be christian anyway

You guys seem to think this is something new invented by the evil America Christians. Christians have been defying the "authorities" in this way for 2000 years folks. Pick up a book called "Fox's Book of Martyrs".

There are at least 13 Christian missions and relief organizations in Afghanistan, have been for many years, and not just Americans, 2/3 of the missions organizations there today are from countries other than the US, including several from Asia.

Matt 10:27-33 "Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

ah, but that is its romance. the victim card. the symbol of a dead guy nailed to two bits of wood

but christianity owes its ongoing and flourishing existence to the fact that, more often than not, it IS the authority. NOT the victim.

it rides on the backs of empires - from the roman empire, to all the european colonial empires and now the american empire

the true victims are those that suffered and died under the boots of the empires that conquered them. the empires that opened the door and allowed christianty to easily move in and indoctrinate.

                      same today in afghanistan
