Well, we have been lucky this time that the strain has low mortality. Indeed, this "pandemic" will kill far fewer people than the common flu, for which up to 40,000 will die in the US in the next winter.

The question is whether we have now learned that the "factory farms" for both chickens and pigs have to be shut down for public health reasons because they are major breeding sites for new viral strains. Next time we may not be so lucky.
