Comments for Palin to be honored by NRA with special M4-like assault rifle »
Posted By rodflintstone 7 months, 4 weeks ago in Political NewsWith Mother’s Day right around the corner, nothing quite says “I love you” like a military-styled assault weapon.
Luckily for Sarah Palin’s family, they won’t have to spend that type of money for such a gift. They can just get Alaska’s First Mom some wimpy flowers or something. The NRA is taking care of the rest.

Excellent story, sir! Welcome aboard.

It perfectly encapsulates one layer of America which as a social phenomenon makes my hair stand on end.
OTOH I have spent sufficient time in some of the more extreme states to have experienced some people with hearts of gold whose lives are deeply embedded in the culture of lethal weapons.
One indeed gave me a cabin to live in, in MT, where the only onerous price that I had to pay was having him visit periodically and immediately set up his machine gun and try to blow the top off Emigrant Peak, which resisted magnificently.
After that came the real penance - consuming some abysmal generic weak beerwhose name I'm quitye pleased to have forgotten but its motto still lurks somewhere in my weary brain: "Its in the water!".
I'd have described it as "the water is in it" but I guess they had already rejected that..-

Well I was in NYC last year for my daughter's wedding and was very happy to find Czech Pilsner available quite freely. Even some VERY obscure bottled items in supermarkets too - some I think would not do so well if people knew more about their origins - the one from the town of crazy people, for example..

HOWEVER I also had the pleasure of sharing a couple of beers with propeller members too!
The company is ALWAYS more important than the beer [or you're in SERIOUS trouble!] but one of the brews in a small pub just by Union Square was especially palatable - fortunately not enough to make me emigrate :)
What is really brilliant here is going to a small town and finding a small brewery that makes some quite unique brew.
My recent kissing expedition yielded one of those - a brewery attached to a glassworks where - apart from making a lager and a dark beer of 1st class quality, they also make a weak beer specially for the workers, which they consume throughout their workday. This one is not allowed to be sold but I had the good fortune to be offered a taste by a resting worker.-

Thanks! It was not the easiest of passages but once we landed in this small ski-resort town - out of season of course - most of the pleasures of life came our way.

One of our dogs came home sick though, so we had to go into emergency mode immediately after getting home.

The micro-brewery thing was just starting before I left the US. The nearest to where I was living then was called "Magic Hat" in Burlington, VT.

A good story...even though I am a bit torn by it.
I am sorta pro-gun/anti-Palin...believe me, it makes sense to me...even if no one else.
Anyways...it's good to have you here, I hope you enjoy the madness of these pages. -

Welcome rodflinstone! Thanks for posting this excellent article. I am more concerned about who handles guns than I am about the guns.

But like an alcoholic who does not drink, we are all safest when they stay out of the lion's den and off the roads. And, so I see the issue of guns in a similar fashion. The laws that determine what kind of guns and who should have license to them need to be addressed with greater scrutiny, in my honest opinion.
As for Palin, she needs therapy. -

Nice gift.

So the NRA is giving Sarah Palin a gun that looks great, packs a big punch on a small frame, and is totally useless? Sounds about right.
Better than an ipod .... I wonder if the Queen has had time to listen to all the speeches by now.-

I can't believe people are willing to elect this cave woman. She kills innocent animals and thinks women should be blamed for being RAPED. How backward can you get??? It's appauling you call yourselves conservatives and Christians, yet endorse such violence and ignorance.

whats the big deal, everyone should put their panties back on. Who cares what the NRA gives her, she has no chance of being a viable GOP candidate anytime soon and I am a gun toting redneck from New England. As a member of the NRA if this is true it is for sure a stupid move. If the wanted to prop her up as a representative of the right then this is just stupid. It is things like this that have hurt the R.

Welcome aboard rodflintstone, a fine post. Remarkable to me any semiconscious sentient life form would entertain the idea of allowing anyone as vapid and clueless as Palin to dog catcher, let alone any other office. Yet there is ample proof that perhaps simply for entertainment purposes alone, such a contingent exists...the same knuckledraggers who were mesmerized by Joe (not Joe) the plumber (not a plumber). The idea of embarrassingly dim nitwits making decisions at high levels of power scares me, but there are those who would rather see incompetent imbeciles hold office because they think they are "like them".

In general guns are not responsible for violence, any more than a bottle of Jack Daniels is responsible for alcaholics.
It is the individual, and frankly anyone willing to use a gun to commit a crime, would not hesitate to get that gun illegally.
The gun "nuts" are something else, the 2nd amendment does not claim guns need to be easily obtained by psychopaths, sadists, or children. The operative word here is nuts, if they weren't gun nuts they'd be pyromaniacs or some other manifestation of craziness. Sportsmen and hunters are one thing, gun nuts are something quite else. -

No, I would neg the story because the person who posted it obviously does not know what they are talking about either. Why would they not find an accurate story to post? Why would they continue to mislead people with this inaccurate title?
