Not only will every little bit help, but it totally reverses the tax break people used to get for buying HUGE gas hogs for their business... it is about time someone used their head!

I know many will scream protectionism, but they could improve the bill buy giving a $3,500 break for ANY vehicle that beats 25 MPH and throw in an extra $1,000 if it happens to be an American made vehicle.
What REALLY bugs me though is the ability to make a dependable vehicle that could be counted on to routinely give at least 40 MPG was around in the 1980's. Sometimes I would drive my son's '89 Geo Metro to work and I always got at least 45 MPG! I have since bought my own Metro, but unfortunately, since my wife can't drive a stick I got the 4cyl. with auto trans. That gets me at least 30 MPG around town and 35 MPG or better on the highway... which actually seems odd since there is no overdrive gear in the auto trans models. If driving 55 MPH is supposed to save gas, then this car works backwards. I get the BEST mileage when I drive 60 - 70 MPH instead of slower.
