The democrats RELENTED!!!!....lol. Obama took specter in and made him an offer he could not refuse...he was told he HAD to vote straight democratic, just like the rest of the demo dummies OR ELSE. you know specter is only for himself and he has to have a BIG position so obama had him stripped of his chairmanship and then told him "if you want to be a chair, you HAVE to vote the way i tell you" and specter, with his self preservation mode turned on said "yes sir, master" and got a chairmanship, only one that really did not mean very much. but for specter , that was enough. so good luck, chairman, your days of " being your OWN man" are behind you. all you have to do now is FOLLOW ORDERS.

Hey, HOUSEMD , Obama does not appoint the member of the senate committees. That is done by each political party. The reason Specter lost his seat on the committee is because he switched parties and the REPUBLICANS replaced him with another Republican. What a dope. LMAO

Specter has voted the way he feels and will continue to do so. I've always had respect for him because he is his own man and yes he was against the torture methods used by the Bush administration and stated: “I voted against water boarding. It's torture. And I took the lead to the Senate floor in fighting for habeas corpus. And I opposed President Bush's signing statements. So I have no hesitancy to stand up on those issues. But there's a very important question of balance." Arlen Specter Jan 15, 2009 before changing parties

Bottom line: The Nutroots at DailyKos and MoveOn.org have no use for Specter. Look for them to back Sestak in the Democratic primary next year. Fast Eddie Rendell, and even the Bamster himself will toss Specter under the bus before they would pick a fight with the people who bought the Democratic party.

The Democrats will do what is best for the democratic party, just like they did when Lieberman started sleeping with the Bushies..

heaven forbid they stick to their values...
I remember when the Republicans once stuck to their values...A few young male pages, some casino moguls, a fool for president with an inept administration, and a joke nominated for VP later and poooffff...There go the Repubicans.. Even Helen Keller can see this one!
For crying out loud, you guys are still crapping on your Presidential nominee..
wasn't he your 4th choice?? or was it 5th???..Yeah, you're real organized!

Poor old thing, regardless of how foolish he was to vote for the stimulus pork bill. He's at the end of the road and should have just announced he was not running again instead of switching parties. He should have stayed put, retained his dignity and not been subjected to the whims of the democrats. I have a sooft spot for the elderly. I wonder if his age has not affected his judgement.

Wonder how much of thorn he is going to be in Holder's side??
Did you notice this in the article:
Specter has been at odds with his new party, voting against the Democratic-backed budget, expressing opposition to a government option on healthcare overhaul, and maintaining his opposition to a bill that would make it easier for unions to organize. Democrats also questioned his support for Republican Norm Coleman over Al Franken in the unresolved Minnesota Senate race.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., told CNN on Wednesday that, when he asked Specter about the remark, Specter said, "I forgot what team I was on."
So according to good old Arlen, your position on issues is based upon which team you are on??
He is going to get hammered over the head with that remark in the primary and campaign next year-

Here is another interesting article on Specter switching parties:

White House Cheat Sheet: Sifting Through the Specter Damage
A series of odd incidents that have proceeded from Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter's party switch last week have raised questions about whether the newest Democrat has permanently damaged himself in the eyes of the state's voters.
The White House is concerned enough about the developments that deputy chief of staff Jim Messina and Ron Klain, a senior adviser to Vice President Biden, traveled to Capitol Hill on Wednesday and huddled with Specter to try to iron out the problems, according to informed Democratic officials.
"His actions over this past week have done nothing to curry favors with either party," said Penny Lee, a former senior adviser to Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) and now a Democratic consultant. "He needs to show some willingness to be a Democrat."
Another Democratic strategist who follows Senate races closely was more blunt about the damage Specter has done to himself over the last week. "Do you think that any right-minded local Democratic elected official is going to stick his neck out for Arlen?" the source asked rhetorically. "Or any member of the Democratic Senate caucus?"
Even those Democrats who believe that Specter has done himself no real long-term electoral harm with his actions over the past week don't exactly give him rave reviews. "The pride swallowing can't be easy but he had no choice if he wants to get reelected, and he was honest about that," said one senior Democratic strategist.

Enough is enough already. Even 36 year Republicans can see how badly the party has strayed..
I knew it 18 years ago. that's why I left it...

Wolfie, you could be right, Specter could lose but it won't be to another Republican. A Democrat will win the election for senator whether it be Specter or his challenger because the state has gone Democrat and will stay Democrat for many years after what those idiots that left the White House did for the last eight years. You know them. You have defended their crimes for the last eight years.

The Republican party is in big trouble if they doesn't shed the likes of people like you neo-cons on Propeller. Most former Republicans are calling themselves Conservatives now because they don't want to be called Republicans. That's how bad the party has become and that's why Specter left. No one is going to vote Republican for a while. Sort of like they have become closet Republicans. LMAO
