The democrats RELENTED!!!!....lol. Obama took specter in and made him an offer he could not refuse...he was told he HAD to vote straight democratic, just like the rest of the demo dummies OR ELSE. you know specter is only for himself and he has to have a BIG position so obama had him stripped of his chairmanship and then told him "if you want to be a chair, you HAVE to vote the way i tell you" and specter, with his self preservation mode turned on said "yes sir, master" and got a chairmanship, only one that really did not mean very much. but for specter , that was enough. so good luck, chairman, your days of " being your OWN man" are behind you. all you have to do now is FOLLOW ORDERS.

Hey, HOUSEMD , Obama does not appoint the member of the senate committees. That is done by each political party. The reason Specter lost his seat on the committee is because he switched parties and the REPUBLICANS replaced him with another Republican. What a dope. LMAO

Specter has voted the way he feels and will continue to do so. I've always had respect for him because he is his own man and yes he was against the torture methods used by the Bush administration and stated: “I voted against water boarding. It's torture. And I took the lead to the Senate floor in fighting for habeas corpus. And I opposed President Bush's signing statements. So I have no hesitancy to stand up on those issues. But there's a very important question of balance." Arlen Specter Jan 15, 2009 before changing parties
