Can Bribery and Corruption be wiped out from USA? »

Posted By WikiMap 6 months ago in News

Why single out the USA for corruption and bribery? We know in our gut and realize in fact, that it occurs in the lesser economies around the world at higher rates and with more significant effects. The poorer peoples suffer most from bribery and corruption. In the USA it happens in many forms and no doubt, at all levels of government.

the whole system in the USA is corrupt...not that most aren't. With special interest & lobby groups exerting influence because of large scale campaign contributions there is corruption galore.
Then you get a dictator like Mugabe who totally wrecked a country and made his people suffer. One might point out the USA supported the Shah of Iran where billions were taken offshore at the expense of the people. We know that he was great at torture as well and the USA was at least complicit.

ugh, people want to believe that it is human nature to be greedy etc. That is (the low part of) our animal aspect. The part that is not so human in nature but often confused for 'human' nature because it is all we have known.

I doubt we know what human nature really is because have not reached the level of human. I look forward to our race having the desire to develop into human's. In fact, I live for it.

If we want to accept and never inquire deeper than the current state, we are doomed.

We are completely driven by our ego's and when we collectively decide to rise above this level of greed and individualism we will have a chance at harmony. Right now we don't even know what the word 'harmony' means.

Meantime, some may think that would be boring (drama queen's,) others may ask why we would want a different life. In fact, some people actually believe they are happy... We are not even satisfied for more that a 'minute' and we never will be at this rate. The ego will always demand more.

So max out your ego, hurry up and begin to ask what is next, and how can we actualize it. We won't have a chance until we are able to co-operate into a collective unit where all are taken care of.

For those of you that think that we 'do our best' and then go to G_d... Think again. That is impossible. Energy seeks balance and our properties - in a given state (say greed,) will equalize and join with similar properties. I am pretty sure that our current level is not even close to the properties of our Creator. Look to nature and see how it operates.

Go to a wet basement. Do you see flowers growing there?? No, The properties that attract rats, spiders, centipedes etc., are different than the requirements for the growth of flowers for example.

If we don't aspire to rise, we won't. If we do, we will. It will not occur without a huge effort and demand for a different state of living. It will not occur because G_d has taken mercy on his irresponsible children... It's tough love and we better get with it.

Oh, and if you think we are only here once - for a good time. Guess again. What if we are the same souls that keep returning, and we just come back to the mess that we left... Think about it, everything else in nature lives, dies, rest, and is re born so again, why do we think we would be exempt from this cycle?

It is getting harder to ignor what is taught in grade school science.

Corruption has been with us for many years now. I believe probably 98% of the politicans take bribes, they call them campagin contributions. You know and I know nobody gives a big chunk of money without expecting something in return. The courts have made the law so loose,a contribution the day of the vote is allowed as a campaign contribution as long as the politican proclaims no connection. We need to bring back reality to the law and declare that Corporations and Unions are "not" a person under the law and no contributions can be made from other than a "person" individually ie, a human being. If we can stop the bribes from all the lobbyists and such maybe we can become a democracy again.
As you know it was in around 1865 or so that the court allowed corporations to become a person under the 14th admendment. Something like 250 corps filed a lawsuit to be included and the Supreme Court allowed it. I'm sure that there was probably some money changing hands then too. What do we do? I guess punt at the moment. We need to get rid of at least 98% of the politicans in Washington and the States to even have a slight chance or returning a democracy.

The last time I looked, the U.S. ranked as the eighth most corrupt country in the world. Considering that there are something like 170, that's not bad. The answer to the question of whether bribery and corruption can be eliminated is NO. Does that mean it should be tolerated? Of course not.

As long as we have the two headed monster aptly called the Two Party System as our de-facto Government, the answer is no. And if we keep that system, the next question should be - do we really want to stop corruption?

In my opinion it is the professional lobbyist who undermine our nations political process the most. The problem, however, is that lobbying is important and should be kept legal. People and businesses have a right to take their concerns before congress. However, we need to get the money out of the equation. Money buys influence. Contributions whether in the form of gifts or campaign donations subvert the process. Your lobbying case should stand on its merits.

My Fellow Americans: I was going to say as long as you had this Administration in Power it never will be possible to wipe out Bribery and Corruption. However, I have to go along with HMMace that is the best solution I have heard. However, before we do that I like Taiwans' technique, before the shooting. Flogging! The Real American

Unfortunately there is lobbying and there is bribery. And the problem is that both are reported as lobbying. Severe penalties for bribery are on the books, but the lobbyist ( bribers? ) are so influential in their money spreading that nothing ever happens to them.

Back in the Netscape days I reported about a Governor and a Congressperson who took bribes from Lobbyists/Bribers and when It was exposed to the light, the Lobbyist/Bribers were sent to the pokey for their misdeeds, the Governor claimed he didn't realize he was being bribed and the Congressperson just laughed it off. I suppose the Lobbyist/Bribers few days in jail were worth the embarrassment and incarnation. They went right back at it. The Governor kept on being Governor and the Congressman finally met his waterloo but not for corruption.

We the people just kept on turning the other cheek.
