If we walk the article a bit further...we could make a pill, that when swollowed by mouth, reacts similar to an antacid pill...bubbles. But instead of carbon dioxide...we could generate oxygen...and the lung replaced with the absorbtion of oxygen through the stomach lining.

Nano motors were around in 1984...and the same Scientific American carried stories of it's use...I found that using these allowed the use of crystaline particals that closed open circuits and replaced themselves after a period of use...allowing circuits essentially to repair themselves....adding or subtracting the needed repair of a failing circuit somewhere else.

Yes they have been around for quite awhile. The difference in those and the ones talked about today is the size and complexity.

I suppose the minimum size ultimately will be the wavelength of light. I'm not sure if any electromagnetic object can be any smaller than that.
Even more impressive to me is the ability to make them.
