It's the spot where the idea of eating fresh, seasonal, locally grown, organic foods was put into practice as never before in the United States, and it grew — along with Waters' reputation and accomplishments — to transform the American diet.     Nothing especially new here but also nothing inaccurate either.

      Well one inaccuracy, maybe..
      It may have changed since I was last there - at least 10 years ago - but Cafe Fanny was actually made as a breakfast place for Alice herself to enjoy privately, before dealing with her other responsibilities.
      Like Chez Panisse, it was named after a character in one of Marcel Pagnol's books - and her daughter is also called Fanny.
